IIIT Sonepat Faculty Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Institute of Information Technology Sonepat (IIIT Sonepat), an Institute of National Importance with its permanent campus at Kilohrad, Sonepat (Haryana), is hiring faculty under Advertisement No. IIITS/Estt./Rect./2026/04. The drive covers Associate Professor and Assistant Professor posts in Computer Science, Electronics and Communication, and Mathematics. Associate Professor and Assistant Professor Grade I are direct-recruitment posts, while Assistant Professor Grade II is offered on contract. If you hold a PhD and a first-class academic record, this is a chance to teach at a young IIIT built around IT and its allied fields.

Faculty here follow a four-tier flexible faculty structure set by the Ministry of Education recruitment rules (F.No.27-11/2011 TS.1 dated 23 April 2014). Read those rules together with the advertisement before you start the form, because they decide which tier you can apply for.

Posts and Disciplines

• Associate Professor (Computer Science and Engineering): open to CSE, Information Technology, CSE (DSA) and CSE (AI). This tier expects a proven research record, including PhD supervision and running sponsored projects.
• Assistant Professor, Grade I and Grade II (Computer Science and Engineering): one shared pool across CSE, IT, CSE (DSA) and CSE (AI). No seats are fixed for any single pay level, so the Selection Committee decides the level you join at.
• Assistant Professor Grade II, on contract (Electronics and Communication Engineering): preferred areas are VLSI, IoT, embedded systems, quantum computing, semiconductor devices, visible light communication, advanced communication, 5G/6G and wireless techniques, and RF systems.
• Assistant Professor Grade II, on contract (Mathematics): preferred areas are mathematics for data science, applied mathematics, scientific computing, optimization, computational complexity and numerical linear algebra.
• Preferred CSE specialisations: full stack development, enterprise Java, blockchain, high-performance computing, industrial IoT, machine learning, data structures and algorithms, deep learning, NLP, AI, computer vision, data analytics, quantum computing, web technologies and generative AI.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• One application per pay level: If you qualify for more than one Assistant Professor tier, submit a separate application with its own fee for each. Each one is judged on its own, and you are finally appointed at the level the Selection Committee finds you suitable for.
• Only regular service counts: Part-time, ad hoc, guest, visiting, contractual, daily-wage and temporary experience is not counted, and the experience must be in UGC, AICTE, Government of India or PSU pay scales.
• CGPA conversion: The institute does not accept a university's own CGPA-to-percentage conversion; if your CGPA is on a scale other than 10 points, attach a first-class certificate from the university's authorised signatory.
• Higher shortlisting bar: The screening committee can set norms above the minimum using specialisation, NIRF/QS ranking of your degree institutions, SCI/SCIE publications, patents and sponsored projects, and the norms may differ between disciplines.
• Serving employees: Upload an NOC and Vigilance Clearance Certificate from your employer. An undertaking is accepted at first, but you cannot sit the test or interview without the NOC and VCC.
• Reservation: Government of India norms apply, with horizontal reservation for PwD candidates. OBC (non-creamy layer) and EWS certificates must be issued on or after 1 April 2026.
• Medical fitness and pay fixation: Your appointment depends on a medical examination, and every pay fixation needs Board of Governors approval; the board may offer a higher starting pay to deserving candidates.
• Interview travel: No TA is paid for the written test, presentation, demo or interview, and the institute will not change these dates on request.
• Jurisdiction: Any legal dispute about this recruitment falls under the Sonepat Court.

The hard copy must reach the office by 5:00 PM on 1 December 2026.

• Envelope: Write "Application for the post of ___" on the cover, and use an A4, legal or A3 size envelope.
• Binding: Spiral-bind the hard copy and number every page; loose or unbound sets may not be considered.
