Heavy Vehicles Factory (HVF) Avadi, a unit of Armoured Vehicles Nigam Limited (AVNL) under the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, has invited offline applications for engagement of 16 Technicians (Tank Driver AFV) under Fixed Term Employment. HVF Avadi is located in Chennai and is known for manufacturing main battle tanks like Arjun and T-72 for the Indian Army. All 16 vacancies are reserved for Indian Ex-Servicemen who have experience in operating Armoured Fighting Vehicles. The contract is initially for 1 year, extendable up to 4 years based on performance.

Note: All 16 posts are reserved for Ex-Servicemen.

Who Can Apply?

• Service Background: You must be a retired Indian Army Ex-Serviceman.
• Technical Skill: You must have knowledge and skill to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot Armoured Fighting Vehicles — specifically T-72, T-90, and MBT (Main Battle Tank).
• Trade Certificate: You must hold a Grade-I certificate of the trade issued by ACC & S Ahmednagar (Armoured Corps Centre & School, Ahmednagar — a premier training institution of the Indian Army).
• Physical Fitness: You should be physically fit and healthy enough to meet the job requirements.
• Nationality: Indian citizens only.

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 50 years as on the closing date of application.
• No minimum age is specified.

Salary

• Basic Pay: Minimum Rs. 23,000 per month
• Industrial Dearness Allowance (IDA): As applicable (revised periodically)
• Special Allowance: 5% of Basic Pay (Rs. 1,150 per month at minimum basic)
• Other Allowances: Rs. 3,000 per month towards Medical & Accident Insurance Premium, conveyance, and telephone facilities
• Annual Increment: 3% on Basic Pay after each year of successful completion
• PF: Provident Fund contributions as per EPF Rules
• Gratuity: Available after 1 year of engagement (15 days pay per completed year)

Note: House Rent Allowance (HRA) is not provided. However, accommodation may be available at the factory on payment of licence fee.

Application Fee

Selection Process

Selection will be done in the following stages:

1. Shortlisting for Trade Test: Preference will be given to (i) Ex-Servicemen who were or have been engaged as Tank Driver in HVF under any contract, (ii) younger Ex-Servicemen by date of birth, and (iii) alphabetical order of name if DOB is the same.
2. Document Verification: Your original certificates and documents will be verified. You must bring your Grade-I certificate, community certificate, discharge book, experience certificate, Aadhaar card, PAN card, and bank passbook.
3. Trade Test (Practical): This is a qualifying test — result will be FIT or UNFIT. You must pass the Trade Test to be selected. It will be conducted at HVF Avadi, Chennai.
4. Medical Examination: You need to obtain a Medical Fitness Certificate from an Asst. Civil Surgeon or Civil Surgeon of a Govt. Hospital/CGHS/CGHS-recognized hospital.
5. Police Verification: You must bring a Self Verified Online Police Verification Report (PVR).

Note: Candidates not clearing Document Verification will not proceed to Trade Test. Admit card for Trade Test will be sent via email/SMS only.

How to Apply

This is an offline (postal) application process. There is no online application.

1. Download the application form (Annexure-A) from www.ddpdoo.gov.in or www.avnl.co.in.
2. Fill in the application form in BLOCK LETTERS only.
3. Paste a recent passport-size photo (self-attested on the front) on the form.
4. Attach self-attested photocopies of all required documents (Grade-I certificate from ACC & S Ahmednagar, community certificate, discharge book, experience certificates, EPF member passbook, bank passbook, Aadhaar card, PAN card).
5. Send the completed application with all enclosures by ordinary post to:

• Follow all safety protocols during vehicle testing and movement within the factory premises
• Keep records of vehicle operation hours, fuel consumption, and maintenance schedules
• Work with the technical team on vehicle trials and quality checks
• Report any mechanical defects or performance issues to the supervising officer
