Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, is looking to fill the post of Director (Marketing) through the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB). HPCL has its corporate headquarters in Mumbai and operates a massive network of refineries, pipelines, and fuel retail outlets across India. This is a board-level appointment for a period of 5 years or until superannuation, whichever comes first. Senior professionals from CPSEs, Central Government, State PSEs (turnover Rs. 2,000 crore+), and private organisations (turnover Rs. 2,000 crore+) are eligible to apply.
Who Can Apply?
Educational Qualification
- You must be an Engineering Graduate from a recognised university or institution, OR
- A Graduate with MBA/PGDM (preference for MBA in Marketing) from a recognised institution
- A good academic record is expected
Work Experience
- You need at least 5 years of experience at a senior level of management in Marketing, Sales, Business Development, or Forecasting & Planning during the last 10 years
- Experience in the petroleum and natural gas sector is preferred
- Experience must be in a large organisation of repute
Employment Status (Who Can Apply)
- You must be employed in a regular (not contractual/ad-hoc) capacity in one of the following:
- A Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) — including full-time functional Directors on the board of a CPSE
- Central Government, including the Armed Forces and All India Services
- A State Public Sector Enterprise (SPSE) with annual turnover of Rs. 2,000 crore or more
- A private sector company with annual turnover of Rs. 2,000 crore or more
Age Limit
- The vacancy date is 01 April 2027
- Age limit is determined based on the vacancy date as per PESB norms for Schedule A CPSEs

Salary
- Pay Scale: Rs. 1,80,000 to Rs. 3,40,000 per month (IDA — Industrial DA pattern)
- HPCL is a Schedule 'A' CPSE — this is among the highest pay bands for PSU directors in India
- You will also be entitled to perquisites, allowances, and benefits as per HPCL's board-level pay policy
- The appointment is for 5 years or until superannuation, whichever is earlier

Responsibilities
- Head the marketing division and drive HPCL's sales and revenue growth strategy across fuel, LPG, lubricants, and other petroleum products
- Oversee marketing operations including retail outlet management, aviation fuel services, and direct sales to large customers
- Set annual marketing targets and monitor performance across regional offices and business units
- Lead market research, demand forecasting, and pricing strategy for petroleum products
- Build and strengthen partnerships with dealers, distributors, and major industrial customers
- Guide branding, customer loyalty programs, and digital marketing initiatives for HPCL's retail network
- Represent HPCL at industry forums, government meetings, and strategic-level discussions
- Report to the Board of Directors and ensure compliance with DPE guidelines and government policies on petroleum marketing
