The High Court of Himachal Pradesh, Shimla is hiring 2 Stenographer (Group-C) posts in its Registry. This is a departmental (promotion) recruitment — only Junior Scale Stenographers already working in the HP High Court or the District Judiciary of Himachal Pradesh can apply. High Court of Himachal Pradesh Stenographer Recruitment 2026 - 2 Posts
The High Court of Himachal Pradesh (HHC), Shimla has released an advertisement notice (No. HHC/Recruit/HC/Steno/2025-I) to fill 2 Stenographer posts in the High Court Registry. This is not an open recruitment — applications are invited only from serving Graduate Junior Scale Stenographers of the High Court and the District Judiciary in Himachal Pradesh, who must apply through their office. Selection is based on a stenography and typing proficiency test as per the R&P Rules, 2015.
Who Can Apply?
- Qualification: You must be a Graduate Junior Scale Stenographer currently working in the High Court of Himachal Pradesh or in the District Judiciary of Himachal Pradesh.
- Experience: If you are a Junior Scale Stenographer of the High Court of H.P., you need 1 year of experience. If you are from the District Judiciary, you need 3 years of experience (counted up to the last date of application).
- Skill required: Shorthand speed of 100 W.P.M. in English and computer typing speed of 50 W.P.M. in English.
- You must apply through proper channel (through your office). Direct or open applications are not accepted.
Salary
- Selected candidates get Pay Level 11 of the Pay Matrix, i.e. Rs. 38,500 to Rs. 1,22,700 per month.
- You will also get DA, HRA and other allowances as per Himachal Pradesh Government rules.
Application Fee
- No application fee is mentioned in this notice.
- No TA/DA will be paid by the High Court for appearing in the test.
Selection Process
Selection is done through a proficiency test as per Schedule IV (Part-H) of the R&P Rules, 2015:
- Shorthand (Stenography) Test: Dictation in English at 100 W.P.M., with transcription within 5 times the dictation time. Dictation time is 10 minutes.
- Typing Test: Typing in English at 50 W.P.M. on computer. Test duration is 10 minutes.
Only up to 10% mistakes are allowed in both the dictation transcription and the typing test. Candidates making more than 10% mistakes will be declared unqualified.

- Fill the prescribed offline application form attached with the official notice.
- Attach self-attested photocopies of all relevant documents and certificates from 10th standard onwards.
- Submit the application through proper channel (through your present office).
- The completed application must reach the Registry of the High Court of Himachal Pradesh, Shimla on or before 10 June 2026.
Incomplete applications or those received after the last date will not be considered.

Responsibilities
- Take dictation in shorthand from Judges and senior officers of the High Court
- Transcribe dictated matter accurately and prepare typed copies on computer
- Prepare judgments, orders, notes and official correspondence
- Maintain confidentiality of court records and sensitive documents
- Manage daily office files, records and registers of the assigned section
- Assist in scheduling and coordinating court-related administrative work
