Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (HBCHRC), Visakhapatnam, a unit of the Tata Memorial Centre (TMC) under the Department of Atomic Energy, has invited applications for the post of Adhoc Consultant (Transfusion Medicine). The selected candidate will work in the Blood Centre and Transfusion Medicine department of this premier cancer care institution in East India. There is no written exam — selection is purely based on walk-in interview and document verification.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You must have an MD or DNB in Transfusion Medicine / Immunohematology and Blood Transfusion or an equivalent qualification recognised by the National Medical Commission (NMC).
• Experience: Post-qualification experience in a transfusion medicine department or licensed blood centre is desirable. Freshers with the required qualification may also apply.
• Registration: You must be registered with the Medical Council of India / National Medical Commission or a State Medical Council.

Age Limit

• Age limit and relaxation will be as per the official notification and TMC norms.
• Age relaxation is applicable for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD candidates as per Government of India rules.

Salary

• The post is an Adhoc Consultant position on a consolidated pay basis.
• Compensation will be as per TMC's adhoc consultant pay norms, payable monthly or per consultation basis as notified.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is based on the following:

• Supervise compatibility testing, cross-matching, and transfusion-related procedures for cancer patients
• Monitor adverse transfusion reactions and maintain hemovigilance records
• Guide and train technicians, residents, and nursing staff on transfusion medicine protocols
• Ensure compliance with NACO, DGHS, and NABH guidelines for blood banks
• Maintain proper records of blood inventory, donor data, and quality control reports
