GoM Modi Script Transcriber Translator Recruitment 2026: Overview

The Government of Maharashtra (GoM), through its Directorate of Languages, is expanding its panel of Modi Script Transcribers and Translators. The panel supports work involving Modi-script records across government departments, boards and corporations. This is an honorarium-based engagement for assignments sent to panel members.

The expansion follows requests from Modi specialists in different parts of Maharashtra and growing demand for their services. If you have not applied earlier, the extended application window gives you an opportunity to seek inclusion in the existing panel.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Assignment arrangement: Government departments, boards and corporations will send work directly to empanelled translators. Your assignments will therefore involve the office that needs the transcription or translation.
• Completion terms: You and the department or office assigning the work will agree on its completion period. You must finish the assignment within that agreed period.
• Payment condition: The department, office or institution assigning the work will pay the honorarium after satisfactory completion, using the rates fixed by the government from time to time.
• Responsibility for the output: You remain responsible for the accuracy and meaning of your translated text. Inclusion in the panel does not transfer this responsibility to the Directorate.
• Panel review: The Directorate can review accuracy, efficiency and promptness when deciding whether a translator should remain on the panel. It also retains the authority to add new translators.

Application Submission Notes

The extension is addressed to Modi specialists and transcribers who have not already applied. You can send your application by email to bhashasanchalak@yahoo.in or by post to the Directorate.

The postal address is Directorate of Languages, Administrative Building, 5th Floor, Bandra East, Mumbai 400051. The notice says that applications received after the closing deadline will not be accepted.

Corrigenda and Notices

• Notice dated 18 September 2026: The Directorate extended the application window following requests from across the state. The revised closing date is recorded in the application dates.
• Website change: Future information about the Modi panel will appear on the Directorate's new website, https://directorate-marathi.maharashtra.gov.in/.

• Transcribe Modi-script records into Marathi and/or translate them into English.
• Handle records in administrative, legal, medical, revenue, educational and engineering subjects, as assigned.
• Complete assignments within the period agreed with the department or office.
• Check that your translations preserve the meaning and accuracy of the source text.
• Send half-yearly work reports in the prescribed format to the Directorate by 15 July and 15 January each year.
