GNEC Senior Resident Anaesthesia Recruitment 2026: Overview

Guru Nanak Eye Centre (GNEC), run by the Government of NCT of Delhi on Maharaja Ranjit Singh Marg, is holding a walk-in interview for a Senior Resident in Anaesthesia. The appointment follows the Residency Scheme and is made on an ad hoc and emergent basis to cover a vacant slot until a regular appointee joins.

The post is earmarked for OBC (Delhi) candidates. If no suitable OBC (Delhi) candidate turns up, the hospital may fill it from other categories, including general, for the same short term. If you hold a PG degree or DNB in Anaesthesia and want senior residency experience at a specialist eye hospital, this is a quick opening — there is no online form and no fee.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: the first term is 44 days or until a regular candidate joins, whichever comes first. It can be extended with a one-day break if the Head of Department reports satisfactory work and you request it in writing.
• Three-year residency cap: total senior residency, regular and ad hoc, in any government hospital cannot cross three years. If you have already finished three years of senior residency, you cannot apply.
• DMC registration: a Delhi Medical Council acknowledgment slip is accepted at the interview, but you must submit the valid registration certificate within 45 days of joining or your candidature is cancelled.
• No claim on the post: as an ad hoc appointee, your service ends without notice when the regular appointee joins.
• Transfers: no inter-hospital transfer is allowed, but you can be moved within GNEC.
• OBC certificate: OBC (Delhi) candidates need a caste certificate and Non-Creamy Layer certificate issued by GNCTD after 31 March 2026. OBC candidates from outside Delhi are treated as General.
• Joining: you must join within 7 days of the offer letter, or the offer lapses automatically.
• Relaxed criteria: if no eligible candidate comes, the hospital may relax the criteria under the Health and Family Welfare circular of 10 June 2011.
• Travel: no TA/DA is paid for attending the interview. Appointment also depends on medical fitness and character verification.

Application Submission Notes

There is no online form. Fill in the Annexure-I application form from the notice in your own handwriting, in capital letters with blue or black ink, and bring it on the interview day.

1. Report to the Low Vision Clinic, GNEC at 9:30 AM for enrolment and document checking.
2. Finish verification by 11:30 AM — no one is allowed in after 11:30 AM.
3. The interview starts at 12 noon in the Office of the Director, GNEC.

Carry your original documents, one set of self-attested photocopies and two passport-size photographs.
