Family Court Kendrapara Counsellor Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

The Office of the District Judge, Kendrapara has invited applications for 1 vacant post of Counsellor in the Court of the Judge, Family Court, Kendrapara. This recruitment is being done as per the instructions of the Hon'ble High Court of Orissa, Cuttack (Letter No. 4492 (60) dated 16.03.2026). The appointment is governed by Rule-5 and Rule-6 of the Family Courts (Orissa) Rules, 1990. The Counsellor will be appointed by the High Court of Orissa.

Who Can Apply?

  • Qualification: You need a Master's Degree in Social Science, preferably in Sociology or Psychology, from a recognised university.
  • Experience: You must have at least 3 years of experience in family counselling.
  • Language: You must be able to speak, read and write Odia and have passed a test in Odia equivalent to the M.E. standard.
  • Citizenship: You must be a citizen of India.
  • Health: You should be of sound health, good physique and free from organic defects or bodily infirmity.
  • Marital Status: You should not have more than one spouse living.
  • Criminal Record: You must declare that no criminal case is pending against you.

Note: If candidates with the above qualifications are not available, persons above the age of 35 working in the field of social service and welfare activities (engaged in promoting the welfare of Family and Child Care) with a degree in Social Science (preferably Sociology or Psychology) can also apply.

Salary

  • Retainer Fee: Rs. 6,000 per month
  • Assisting Fee: Rs. 1,000 per day of actual work
  • Your total monthly earnings can go up to Rs. 30,000 depending on the number of working days.
  • The fee is fixed by the State Government of Odisha in consultation with the High Court of Orissa and may be revised from time to time.

Responsibilities

  • Counsel parties involved in family disputes to help reach amicable settlements
  • Assist the Family Court Judge by providing counselling sessions to litigants before and during court proceedings
  • Prepare detailed reports on each counselling session for the court's reference
  • Handle sensitive cases involving matrimonial disputes, child custody and domestic issues with care and confidentiality
  • Follow the guidelines laid down under Rule-8 of the Family Courts (Orissa) Rules, 1990
  • Maintain proper records and registers of all cases assigned for counselling
  • Work with families and individuals to promote reconciliation and welfare of children
