Family Court Dhenkanal Counsellor Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

The Office of the District Judge, Dhenkanal has invited applications for the post of Counsellor in the Court of Judge, Family Court, Dhenkanal. This recruitment is being done under the Family Courts (Orissa) Rules, 1990. The selected Counsellor will work in the Family Court to help resolve family disputes and guide parties toward reconciliation. The appointment is made by the High Court of Orissa, so this is a court-level position with significant responsibility.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You must have a Master's Degree in Social Science, preferably in Sociology or Psychology, from a recognised university.
• Experience: You need at least 3 years of experience in family counseling.
• Alternative eligibility: If candidates with 3 years of counseling experience are not available, persons above 35 years of age working in social service and welfare activities (promoting welfare of Family and Child Care) with a degree in Social Science (preferably Sociology or Psychology) can also apply.
• Language: You must be able to speak, read and write Odia and have passed a test in Odia equivalent to the M.E. Standard.
• Citizenship: You must be a citizen of India.
• Health: You should be of sound health, good physique and free from any communicable disease.
• Marital Status: If married, you should not have more than one spouse living.
• Criminal Record: No criminal case should be pending against you.

Salary

• The Counsellor will receive a monthly fee of Rs. 6,000 per month.
• In addition, an assisting fee of Rs. 1,000 per day of actual work will be paid.
• This is as per Resolution No. IJ-02/2019-6839/L dated 23-04-2025 of the Government of Orissa, Law Department, Bhubaneswar.

Selection Process

The notification does not mention a written exam. Selection will be based on:

1. Screening of Applications: Your application will be checked for eligibility, qualifications and experience as per the Family Courts (Orissa) Rules, 1990.
2. Merit-Based Selection: Based on your qualifications and experience in family counseling and social work.
3. Appointment by High Court: The final appointment is made by the Hon'ble High Court of Orissa, Cuttack.

Note: The District Judge reserves the right to cancel the candidature of any candidate found unsuitable for any reason.

How to Apply

2. Fill in the application form with all required details in your own handwriting and sign it in full.
3. Attach self-attested photocopies of all educational qualification certificates and mark sheets (including Master's Degree).
4. Attach your experience certificate in family counseling or social service and welfare activities.
5. Attach a self-attested photocopy of your date of birth certificate (preferably HSC Board or equivalent).
6. Attach two character certificates issued by two different Gazetted Officers.
7. Attach two self-attested recent passport size photographs (affix one on the application form).
8. Include one self-addressed envelope.
9. Put everything in an envelope and write "Application for the post of Counsellor" on top.
10. Send the envelope to: Registrar, Civil Courts, Dhenkanal, PIN-759001 by Speed Post so that it reaches before 5:00 PM on 27 April 2026.
11. You can also drop your application in the Drop Box kept at Civil Courts, Dhenkanal (in front of the Process Establishment Section) during office hours on working days till 5:00 PM on 27 April 2026.

Applications received after 5:00 PM on 27-04-2026 will not be accepted. Incomplete or defective applications will be rejected.

• Assist and advise parties in family court cases regarding settlement of disputes
• Help couples and families arrive at reconciliation in matrimonial and family matters

• Prepare reports and recommendations for the Family Court Judge after counseling sessions
• Maintain confidential records of all counseling cases and proceedings
• Follow procedures laid down under the Family Courts (Orissa) Rules, 1990
• Work closely with the Judge, Family Court to facilitate amicable resolution of cases
