About This Job
East Coast Railway (ECoR) is hiring 4 Junior Engineer (TRD) posts in KUR Division under the 25% Intermediate Apprentice Quota (IAQ). This is an internal volunteer-based notification — only serving Technicians in the Electrical (TRD) Department of KUR Division can apply. The pay is Pay Matrix Level-6 (7th CPC). The last date to submit your application to your SSE/JE is 10 June 2026.

East Coast Railway (ECoR), Khurda Road Division has released Notification No. DRM(P)/KUR/Elect/JE/25%(IAQ)/2026 dated 25 May 2026 for filling up 4 vacant posts of Junior Engineer (TRD) in Level-6 against the 25% Intermediate Apprentice Quota in the Electrical (TRD) department. This is for serving Railway employees only — outside candidates cannot apply. Selection is through a Computer Based Test (CBT/TBT) followed by scrutiny of Service Records and APARs.

Who Can Apply?
Eligible Staff
- You must be a serving Technician of Electrical (TRD) Department, KUR Division in Pay Level-2, Level-4, Level-5 or Level-6.
- This is as per Para 141(1), Chapter-I, IREM Vol-I.
Length of Service
- You should have completed 3 years of continuous Railway service in skilled grade as Technician in Electrical (TRD)/KUR Division as on the date of notification.
- If you joined KUR Division on transfer-on-request basis, your length of service will be counted as per RBE No.34/2006.
Educational Qualification
- Degree or Diploma in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering (including sub-stream branches) as per RBE No.81/2025, OR
- ITI/ACT Apprenticeship Pass, OR
- 10+2 in Science Stream (RBE No.145/2003)
Medical Standard
- You must be fit in A-3 (Aye-three) medical classification for TRD wing.
Age Limit
- General (UR): Upper age limit 47 years as on date of notification
- ST: Upper age limit 52 years as on date of notification
- The cut-off date for determining eligibility is the date of issue of notification (RBE No.117/2006).
Salary
- Selected candidates will be placed in Pay Matrix Level-6 (7th CPC).
- Entry pay starts at Rs. 35,400 per month, going up to Rs. 1,12,400.
- You will also get DA, HRA, TA and other allowances as per Central Government rules.

Selection Process
Selection will be done in the following stages:
- Publication of Eligible/Ineligible List: After scrutiny of applications, only eligible candidates will be called for the written exam.
- Written Examination (CBT/TBT): 110 objective MCQs with 4 options each (10 questions optional from Rajbhasha). You answer a maximum of 100 questions in 120 minutes (2 hours). Questions are in both Hindi and English. Negative marking of one-third of the marks per wrong answer.
- Scrutiny of Service Record and APARs: Candidates scoring minimum 60% in written test will be considered for scrutiny of last 3 years' APARs.
- Final Empanelment: Final panel drawn in order of merit from those who score minimum 60% in the written test and 60% aggregate in 'Record of Service' and last 3 years APARs, free from SPE/Vigilance/D&AR cases.
- Medical Standard Test: Promotion is subject to passing the prescribed medical standard (A-3 for TRD).
This is a safety category post, so there is no relaxation in marks for SC/ST candidates. There will be no supplementary examination.

Responsibilities
- Supervise traction distribution (TRD) maintenance work on Overhead Equipment (OHE) and switching stations
- Monitor electrical safety of traction lines and ensure uninterrupted power supply to electric locomotives
- Lead a team of Technicians on patrol, inspection, and breakdown duties
- Maintain registers, prepare duty rosters, and submit periodic safety reports
- Coordinate with operating, signalling, and electrical departments during block sections and emergencies
- Implement Railway Board safety circulars and standard maintenance practices on the TRD wing
- Conduct training for junior staff and ensure compliance with Indian Railways Engineering Manual
