About This Job
East Coast Railway (ECoR) is filling up 1 Junior Engineer (TRS) post at ELS/ANGL in KUR Division under the 25% Intermediate Apprentice Quota (IAQ). This is an internal recruitment open only to serving Technicians of the Electrical (TRS) Department. The post is in Pay Level-6 (7th CPC) and the last date to submit your application is 5 June 2026.
East Coast Railway Junior Engineer (TRS) Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post
East Coast Railway (ECoR), KUR (Khurda Road) Division has released notification number DRM(P)/KUR/Elect/JE/25% (IAQ)/2026 dated 15 May 2026 to fill up the vacant post of Junior Engineer (TRS) at ELS/ANGL in Level-06 against the 25% Intermediate Apprentice Quota in the Electrical department. This is a limited departmental selection for serving Technicians within the Electrical (TRS) Department, and the panel will be drawn purely in order of merit on aggregate marks.

Who Can Apply?
Eligible Staff
- You must be a serving Technician of the Electrical (TRS) Department / ELS (ANGL) / KUR Division, or hold a lien in this department.
- You must be working in Pay Level-2, Level-4, Level-5, or Level-6.
- Eligibility is as per Para 141(1), Ch-I, IREM Vol-I.
Length of Service
- You must have completed 3 years of continuous Railway service in the skilled grade as on the date of notification.
- For staff who joined the Electrical (TRS) Department at ELS/ANGL on transfer-on-request, length of service will be counted as per RBE No.34/2006.
Educational Qualification
- Degree or Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (including sub-stream branches, if any) — as per RBE No.81/2025, OR
- ITI / ACT Apprenticeship Pass, OR
- 10+2 in Science Stream (as per RBE No.145/2003)
Age Limit
- Maximum age: 47 years
- Cut-off date for eligibility: the date of issue of notification (15 May 2026), as per RBE No.117/2006
Salary
- Pay Level: Level-6 (7th CPC)
- Basic pay: Rs. 35,400 to Rs. 1,12,400 per month
- You will also get DA, HRA, TA and other allowances as per Railway rules
Medical Standard
- You must be fit in A-3 (Aye-three) medical classification for the TRS wing.
Selection Process
The selection will be done in the following stages:
- Written Examination (CBT / TBT Mode): 110 objective multiple-choice questions, out of which 10 questions (optional) will be from Rajbhasha; you have to answer a maximum of 100 questions in 120 minutes. Questions are bilingual (Hindi and English). Negative marking: 1/3 marks deducted for every wrong answer.
- Scrutiny of Service Record and APARs: Only candidates securing minimum 60% marks in the written test will move to this stage. Last 3 years' APARs will be checked.
- Final Empanelment: Candidates securing 60% or more in aggregate, and free from SPE / Vigilance / D&AR cases, will be empanelled purely in order of merit on aggregate marks. No supplementary exam.
- Medical Examination: You must pass the prescribed medical standard (A-3) before final promotion.
This is a safety category post — there is no relaxation in marks for SC/ST candidates.

Responsibilities
- Supervise maintenance and repair of Traction Rolling Stock (TRS) equipment in the Electrical Loco Shed
- Handle preventive and scheduled maintenance of electric locomotives
- Monitor safety standards and follow Railway Board safety guidelines
- Prepare maintenance records, daily reports, and shed registers
- Guide and assist Technicians during repair work on electrical equipment
- Coordinate with senior supervisors for shed operations and trip schedules
- Ensure compliance with IREM, RBE circulars, and departmental rules

Degree or Diploma in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, OR ITI/ACT Apprenticeship Pass, OR 10+2 Science (serving Technician of Electrical/TRS Department only)

Mathematics covers Algebra, Equations, Logarithms, Trigonometry, Coordinate geometry, Geometrical surfaces and volumes.
- General Knowledge: Indian Polity, World Polity, Economy, IMF, ADB, Exchange rate, RBI, Inflation, Monetary Policy, History, Geography, Demographics, Sports, Science & Technology.
- English: Vocabulary, Comprehension, Parts of speech, Prepositions, Verbs, Tenses, Similar words, Phrases, Conjunctions, Syntax, Error correction, Direct-Indirect speech, Active-Passive voice.
- Rajbhasha (Optional, 10 Questions): Constitutional provisions, Official Languages Act 1963, 8th Schedule languages, Committee on Official Language, Rajbhasha Awards, Hindi training.
Qualifying Marks: Minimum 60% marks in the written test. No relaxation for SC/ST as this is a safety category post.
