Defence Electronics Applications Laboratory (DEAL), Dehradun is a DRDO research laboratory under the Ministry of Defence. This notice covers Graduate Apprentice, Diploma Apprentice, and ITI Apprentice training for the 2026-27 cycle. The training period is one year, and the notification clearly says that apprenticeship does not create a claim for permanent, temporary, or contractual employment in DEAL or DRDO.

Training location: The apprenticeship is at DEAL, Dehradun. Selected trainees must join on the date fixed by DEAL after completing administrative formalities, and final selection depends on online approval of the apprenticeship contract by the competent authority.

Who Can Apply?

Graduate Apprentices

  • Engineering streams: You need B.E./B.Tech or an equivalent degree with 60% marks in the relevant discipline.
  • Library Science: You need B.Sc. in PCM/PCB and B.Lib./B.L.I.Sc. with 60% marks in each degree.

Diploma Apprentices

  • Qualification: You need a Diploma in Engineering or Technology, or an equivalent qualification, with 60% marks in the relevant discipline.

ITI Apprentices

  • Qualification: You need ITI pass with an NCVT or SCVT certificate in the relevant trade.

Common Conditions

  • Nationality: Only Indian nationals can apply.
  • Passing year: You should have passed the qualifying exam in 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 or 2026.
  • Regular study: You must have completed the qualifying course as a regular candidate.
  • No prior apprenticeship: You cannot apply if you already completed or are currently doing apprenticeship after the required qualification.
  • Work experience limit: You are not eligible if you have one year or more job experience after the required qualification.
  • Higher qualification: The notice says candidates with higher qualification are not eligible for these apprentice seats.
  • Result status: If your qualifying exam result is not declared by the last date, you cannot use that pending result for this recruitment.

Age Limit

  • Minimum age: You must be at least 18 years old.
  • Maximum age and relaxation: The maximum age and relaxation will follow the Apprentices Act 1961, Apprenticeship Rules 1992, NATS 2.0 and NAPS guidelines.
  • PwBD: PwBD candidates can apply only for trades designated under the Apprenticeship Rules.

Stipend

  • Graduate Apprentices: Rs. 12,300 per month, or the rate notified by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
  • Diploma Apprentices: Rs. 10,900 per month, or the applicable ministry rate.
  • ITI Apprentices: Rs. 10,560 per month, or the applicable ministry rate.
  • Payment note: For Graduate and Diploma Apprentices, the notice says 50% of stipend is paid by DEAL and 50% from BOAT under the DBT scheme.
  • Facilities: No TA, DA, accommodation, transport or medical facility will be provided for selection or during training.

Selection Process

DEAL will shortlist applicants based on the vacancies available in each category and discipline.

  1. Shortlisting: Selection may use academic merit, written test, interview, walk-in interview, or a combination of these methods.
  2. Document Verification: Shortlisted applicants must show original documents with one set of self-attested photocopies.
  3. Final Approval: Selection becomes final only after online approval of the apprenticeship contract by the competent authority.

  1. Graduate and Diploma candidates: Register on the NATS 2.0 portal at nats.education.gov.in and apply against DEAL ID NUKDDC000015.
  2. ITI candidates: Register on the NAPS portal at apprenticeshipindia.gov.in and search the establishment Defence Electronics Application Laboratory.
  3. Choose the relevant opportunity for your discipline or trade.
  4. Fill in accurate details, convert CGPA to percentage as per your university rules, and upload the required scanned documents.
  5. Submit the online application before 22 July 2026. DEAL will not accept offline applications.
