DRDO CVRDE is hiring 16 Junior Research Fellows (JRF) at Avadi, Chennai for research work in armoured fighting vehicle technologies. Combat Vehicles Research and Development Establishment (CVRDE) is a DRDO laboratory under the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, located at Avadi, Chennai. This notice covers 16 JRF posts in Mechanical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, and Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

The fellowship is initially for 2 years and can be extended as per DRDO rules. The notice clearly says the fellowship is temporary and does not give any right for absorption in DRDO.

Who Can Apply?

Essential Qualification

• B.E./B.Tech route: You need B.E./B.Tech with first division from a recognised university and a valid GATE score.
• M.E./M.Tech route: You need M.E./M.Tech with first division at both graduate and postgraduate level.
• Accepted disciplines only: Mechanical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, and Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
• Foreign degree condition: If your degree is from a foreign university, you need an equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities, Delhi.
• Nationality: Only Indian nationals can apply.

Important Eligibility Notes

• No allied discipline: The notice says allied or equivalent engineering disciplines are not acceptable.
• Degree status: You must have been awarded the degree or provisional certificate.
• Earlier DRDO JRF: Candidates who already got a JRF position in any DRDO lab or centre earlier cannot apply again.

Age Limit

• UR: Not above 28 years as on the date of application.
• OBC Non-Creamy Layer: Not above 31 years.
• SC/ST: Not above 33 years.

Salary

• Consolidated fellowship: Rs. 37,000 per month.
• HRA and medical facilities will be allowed as per rules.
• The fellowship is initially for 2 years and may be extended as per rules.

Selection Process

The DRDO CVRDE selection process has shortlisting, written test, interview and document verification. The written test is objective type, but the notice does not give the number of questions, marks, time limit or negative marking.

1. Academic Shortlisting: Candidates will be shortlisted based on B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech marks.
2. Certificate Verification: Original certificates and testimonials will be checked before the written test.
3. Written Test: Eligible shortlisted candidates will take an objective type written test at CVRDE, Avadi, Chennai.
4. Interview: Candidates who qualify the written test will attend the interview, expected on the same day.
5. Final Selection: CVRDE may use any other selection tool or test at the discretion of the Director.

No TA/DA will be paid for attending the written test, interview or joining.
