CVRDE Paid Intern Recruitment 2026: Overview

Combat Vehicles Research and Development Establishment (CVRDE), DRDO is offering a paid engineering internship at its Avadi campus in Chennai under the Ministry of Defence. CVRDE designs and develops armoured fighting vehicles and works on turrets, weapon systems, automotive systems, engines, transmissions, running gear, vehicle electronics and communication technology. The programme gives final-year engineering students a supervised way to connect classroom learning with defence vehicle research and development.

This is a fixed six-month learning engagement for the 2026-27 academic year. Your exact project will depend on your academic branch and the establishment's current technical work. It is an internship opportunity rather than a route to automatic employment with DRDO.

Posts and Disciplines

• Mechanical Engineering: project exposure may relate to vehicle structures, chassis systems, engines, transmissions, running gear or other mechanical systems used in armoured vehicles.
• Electronics and allied branches: this stream covers Electronics, Electronics and Communication, and Electronic and Instrumentation Engineering for work linked to vehicle electronics, instrumentation and communication.
• Electrical Engineering: assignments may support electrical systems, power distribution, testing and integration work within combat-vehicle projects.
• Computer Science and allied branches: Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Information Technology students may work with software, data or digital systems used by the laboratory.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Academic status: You must remain a regular student of an AICTE-approved technical institute or UGC-approved university in the semester or year named in the notice.
• Academic record: Backlogs are not accepted, and the required academic performance must have been maintained throughout earlier semesters.
• Attendance: Stipend release depends on completing at least twenty working days at CVRDE in each month and maintaining satisfactory academic performance.
• Other support: You must arrange your own boarding, lodging and transport. The CVRDE canteen may be used on a paid basis.
• Exclusive stipend: Students already receiving a stipend from another institute cannot join this programme.
• Completion: You need to finish the full tenure and submit a project report to receive the completion certificate and stipend.
• Security and fitness: Selected students must provide police verification and a medical fitness certificate at joining and follow the Official Secrets Act.
• No job claim: Completing the internship does not create any right to employment at CVRDE or DRDO.

Your college must issue the request letter or no-objection certificate in the attached format and have it signed by the Principal or Director. The application also includes an undertaking under the Official Secrets Act, so check that every appendix and supporting record is complete before dispatch.

• Assist CVRDE scientists and engineers with supervised project work in the assigned discipline
• Prepare designs, calculations, code, test setups or technical notes relevant to the project
