The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Kamrup (Metro), Guwahati has released an advertisement for the contractual engagement of 1 Driver and 1 Office Peon (Munshi/Attendant) in its office. This is a good opportunity for candidates from Assam who have basic school qualifications and want to work in a government legal office. No written exam is required for either post — selection is through a skill test and interview only.

The engagement is purely temporary and on a contract basis for 1 year, and does not entitle you to regularisation in government service. The contract automatically ends after 1 year unless the competent authority renews it, and any further extension needs approval from the Executive Chairman, Assam State Legal Services Authority, Guwahati. The list of eligible candidates along with the date, time, and venue of the selection process will be published later on the official website of District Judiciary, Kamrup (M) — kamrupmetro.dcourts.gov.in — so keep checking it regularly since no individual call letters will be sent.

Vacancy Details

Who Can Apply?

For Driver:

• Qualification: You must have passed Class 10 (HSLC) and hold a valid driving licence.

For Office Peon (Munshi/Attendant):

• Qualification: You must have passed Class 8. Candidates who have passed HSSLC (Class 12) or above are not eligible for this post and must submit a declaration confirming this.

• Citizenship: You must be an Indian citizen as defined under Articles 5 to 8 of the Constitution of India.
• Canvassing: Directly or indirectly canvassing for your candidature will lead to disqualification.

Age Limit

• You should be between 18 and 40 years old (General category) as on 1 January 2026.
• Age Relaxation: OBC/MOBC candidates can apply up to 43 years. SC/ST candidates can apply up to 45 years.

Salary

• Both the Driver and Office Peon posts carry a monthly honorarium of Rs. 15,000.
• This is a contractual engagement and does not carry regular government pay scale or allowances.

Selection Process

Selection for the Driver post is done in 2 stages:

2. Viva Voce / Interview

Selection for the Office Peon post is done through:

1. Viva Voce / Interview

You will have to appear for the skill test/interview at your own cost — no TA/DA will be paid for attending.

How to Apply

1. Get the Standard Form of Application as published in Part IX of the Assam Gazette.
2. Fill in the form carefully with all required details.
3. Attach self-attested photocopies of your educational certificates, age proof, Employment Exchange Registration Certificate, experience certificate (if any), and valid driving licence (for the Driver post).
4. Attach 2 recent passport-size photographs and mention a valid contact number and email ID.
5. If applying for the Office Peon post, attach a declaration stating that you have not passed HSSLC (Class 12) or above.
6. Clearly write the name of the post you are applying for on top of the envelope.
7. Send your application by Registered Post, Speed Post, by hand, or through the Drop Box at the DLSA Kamrup (Metro) office, Guwahati, so it reaches on or before 4 August 2026, 5:00 PM.
