DFSL Scientific Officer and Assistant Recruitment 2026: Overview

The Directorate of Forensic Science Laboratories (DFSL), which works under the Home Department of the Government of Maharashtra, is filling Scientific Officer (Group-B) and Scientific Assistant (Group-C) posts for its Cyber and TASI work under Advertisement No. 5/2026. Both are contract posts for three years on the directorate's Mumbai establishment at Kalina, Santacruz (East). The drive follows a Home Department government resolution dated 22 September 2026.

The big point here: this is not an open call for every science graduate. The notice asks for people who have already done computer crime and audio/audio-tape analysis work as a Scientific Officer or Scientific Assistant inside the directorate. So it mainly suits people who have worked in DFSL's cyber and audio labs before.

Posts and Disciplines

• Scientific Officer, Group-B (Cyber and TASI): the senior post of the two, meant for postgraduates and engineers from Physics, Computer Science, Electronics or IT backgrounds, as well as cyber forensics postgraduates.
• Scientific Assistant, Group-C (Cyber and TASI): the junior post, open to science or engineering graduates in the same subjects, B.Sc. (Forensic Science) holders and holders of a PG Diploma in Digital and Cyber Forensic and Related Law.

Both posts sit in the directorate's computer crime and audio analysis wing, which handles digital and recorded-audio evidence in criminal cases.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Contract term: The posts are filled for a period of three years on a fixed lump-sum honorarium (ठोक मानधन). The advertisement does not print the honorarium amount.
• DFSL experience: Experience of computer crime and audio/audio-tape analysis work in the directorate, on the post of Scientific Officer or Scientific Assistant, is mandatory for both posts.
• Degree class: Graduate and postgraduate degrees must be at least second class; qualifications the Government has declared equivalent are also accepted.
