PSERC Multi-Post Recruitment 2026: Overview

The Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission (PSERC) has issued vacancy circular Reference No. 79/2026/10 for three senior posts: a Staff Consultant, a Director/Finance and a Registrar/Joint Director (Legal). PSERC is the commission that regulates the electricity sector in Punjab, and these posts help it run its regulatory and legal work.

The Staff Consultant job is a contract engagement, while the Director and Registrar posts can be filled either on deputation or on contract. All three posts are meant for experienced people — serving or retired government and PSU officers, or professionals with long careers in finance or law.

Posts and Disciplines

• Staff Consultant: a coordination and protocol role for someone who has worked as Secretary to a Minister or Chairperson, or on an analogous post. You will deal with the Punjab Government, FOR, FOIR and other regulatory commissions.
• Director/Finance: the commission's senior finance post, open to Chartered Accountants, Cost Accountants, MBA (Finance) holders and officers from IRS, IA&AS or the Indian Economic Service. Experience in tariff formulation, cost analysis and financial management gets preference.
• Registrar/Joint Director (Legal): a legal post for law graduates. Preference goes to those who have handled electricity laws and regulations, petitions, pleadings, case-law listing and drafting of statutes or regulations.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Rules for the Staff Consultant: Terms follow the PSERC (Engagement of Consultants) Regulations, 2012 and decisions the commission takes from time to time.
• Rules for the Director and Registrar: Pay, allowances, tenure and other terms follow the PSERC (Appointment & Service Conditions of Employees) Regulations, 2015, available under the 'Regulations' tab on the commission's website. The circular does not print a pay figure for these two posts.
• Power sector knowledge: The Director/Finance must be familiar with electricity laws, regulatory affairs and recent developments in the power sector.
• Punjabi and computers: The Staff Consultant needs a matriculation pass with Punjabi as a subject and working knowledge of computers.
• Age cap: The upper age limit printed on the proforma applies to candidates applying on contract.
• Selection: A Screening-cum-Selection Committee judges your suitability on your qualifications, qualifying service and type of experience.

Application Submission Notes

You apply on paper using the prescribed proforma attached to the circular. Send it to the Secretary, PSERC at the commission's office in Chandigarh so that it reaches before the closing date.

• Deputation candidates: Your parent department forwards the application after verification, with your bio-data, ACRs and vigilance details. You must also send an advance copy yourself.
• Contract candidates: Send the completed proforma directly with self-attested copies of your certificates and experience proof.
• Photo: Paste a self-attested passport-size photograph on the proforma.

Corrigenda and Notices

• Earlier Director/Finance applicants: If you already applied under vacancy circular No. 77/2026/08, you do not need to apply again — your earlier application will be considered.
