The District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Dhanbad has released a notification (Advertisement No. 01/2026) inviting applications for the post of Support Person under the POCSO Act 2012 and POCSO Rules 2020. DCPU Dhanbad Support Person Recruitment 2026
Under the direction of the Government of Jharkhand's Department of Women, Child Development and Social Security, the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) Dhanbad is empanelling Support Persons to assist child victims of sexual offences as mandated by the POCSO Act 2012. Support Persons play a vital role in providing emotional, psychological, and practical assistance to children who have faced sexual abuse, helping them through the legal process. The number of positions depends on the caseload in the district, following a 1:10 ratio (one support person per 10 cases).
Who Can Apply?
Educational Qualification
- Graduation in Arts, Commerce, Science, Law, Psychology, Social Work, or any related field from a recognized university
- Candidates working in any capacity in a related field with a minimum of 2 years of experience are also eligible
Experience
- At least 2 years of desirable experience in child protection, legal aid, social work, psychology, or counselling
- Experience at DLSA, JHALSA, DCPO, CWC, JJB, or POCSO courts is desirable (minimum 1 year)
Other Requirements
- Applicants must be residents of Dhanbad district, Jharkhand
- Must not have any criminal record or pending cases
- Must submit an experience certificate issued by the employer
Age Limit
- Minimum Age: 35 years
- Maximum Age: 60 years
Honorarium
- This is not a salaried position. Selected Support Persons will receive an honorarium of Rs. 5,000 per case
- Payment will be made as per the rate decided by the Child Welfare Committee, based on notification no. 526/SP-POCSO/JSCPS/2023-24-525 dated 09.05.2025
- A Support Person can handle a maximum of 5 cases at a time

Selection Process
The selection of Support Persons will be done through the following process:
- Shortlisting: A selection committee formed by the District Child Protection Officer, Dhanbad, will shortlist candidates and publish the list at the office
- Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates must appear for verification with original documents
- Merit-Based Evaluation: Candidates will be evaluated on a total of 50 marks:
- Educational Qualification (10 marks): Graduate - 6 marks, Post-Graduate - 3 marks, Other relevant qualification - 1 mark
- Work Experience (10 marks): 1 mark per year of relevant experience (maximum 10 marks)
- Interview (30 marks): Personal interview by the Selection Committee
- Final Selection: Candidates scoring 60% in evaluation and 40% in interview (as per notification 525/09.05.2025) will be empanelled

Responsibilities
- Assist child victims of sexual offences through the legal process under the POCSO Act 2012
- Keep the identity and all details of the child victim strictly confidential at all times
- Work closely with the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), POCSO courts, and District Child Protection Unit
- Follow up on each assigned case and track progress on the NCPCR POCSO Tracking Portal
- Prepare and submit monthly reports to the concerned CWC regarding case progress
- Handle a maximum of 5 cases at a time, giving adequate attention to each child
- Assist the child and family in understanding court procedures, legal rights, and available support services
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum Qualification
Graduation in Arts/Commerce/Science/Law/Psychology/Social Work with 2 years experience
Preferred Qualification
Post-graduation in Psychology, Social Work, Law, or Child Development; experience at DLSA/JHALSA/DCPO/CWC/JJB/POCSO courts
Required Skills
Child counselling, legal awareness, case management, communication skills

Pay Scale

Exam Pattern
There is no written exam for this recruitment. Selection is based on merit evaluation and interview:
- Educational Qualification (10 marks): Graduate degree gets 6 marks, Post-Graduate gets 3 marks, Other relevant qualifications get 1 mark
- Work Experience (10 marks): You get 1 mark for each year of relevant experience, up to a maximum of 10 marks
- Interview (30 marks): Personal interview conducted by the Selection Committee
Total: 50 marks. You need at least 60% in the evaluation and 40% in the interview to qualify.
