DCI Fleet Personnel and Trainee Recruitment 2026: Overview
Dredging Corporation of India Limited (DCI), the dredging company owned by a consortium of the Visakhapatnam, Jawaharlal Nehru, Paradip and Deendayal Port Authorities, is holding walk-in interviews under Advertisement No. 04/2026. The drive has two halves: experienced fleet personnel who already hold the right certificate of competency, and newly qualified trainees who will learn the job on board DCI's dredgers. Every engagement is contractual and does not lead to a regular DCI post. If you are a marine or electrical engineering graduate, a pre-sea GP rating, or a serving dredger officer, this notice is worth a close read.
Posts and Disciplines
Fleet Personnel (experienced ranks)
- Dredge Master and Chief Officer: senior deck ranks for holders of a Master (FG), Mate (FG), Dredge Master or matching NCV certificate.
- 2nd Officer and 3rd Officer: navigation watch-keeping ranks; the 2nd Officer post needs earlier dredger service doing independent watches, while the 3rd Officer post is open to NWKO (NCV) certificate holders.
- Chief Engineer Officer, 2nd Engineer Officer and 4th Engineer Officer: engine-room ranks matched to the MEO Class I, II and IV certificates or the Dredge Engineer grades.
- Petty Officer (Dredging): open to ex-Navy survey and navigation sailors, NWKO (NCV) holders, Dredge Mate Grade II holders and GP ratings with tube-operator experience on dredgers.
The notice prints seat numbers only for the trainee posts; the fleet ranks are listed without a fixed count.
Trainees
- Trainee Marine Engineer (TME): for four-year marine engineering graduates, or engineers who finished Graduate Marine Engineering after a four-year degree. Onboard training lasts six months.
- Trainee Electrical Officer (TELO): for electrical, electronics, telecom or instrumentation engineers who have also finished the four-month Electro Technical Officer course. Training runs eight months.
- NCV Trainee (NCV(T)): for Class 10 pass candidates who cleared the pre-sea GP rating course exit exam. Training runs 18 months.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Bond for TME and TELO: you must give a Bank Guarantee of Rupees Three lakhs, or deposit the same amount with DCI, and serve DCI for five years after training and getting your CoC (TMEs) or your posting as ELO (TELOs).
- Who cannot apply for TME: anyone who already holds, or is about to get, the MEO Class IV certificate of competency.
- Seafarer papers: every candidate needs a valid Indian CDC, passport, INDOS number and basic STCW 2010 certificates.
- Training length: the onboard period can be extended or cut short to suit DCI or DG Shipping needs.
- Contract only: these are temporary contractual vacancies with no claim to regular or permanent employment at DCI.
- Persons with disabilities: the notice says differently abled candidates need not apply.
- Extra qualifications: holding more than the essential qualification gives you no added advantage.
- Posts can change: DCI may raise, cut or alter the vacancies, set its own shortlisting criteria if many people turn up, or cancel the drive.
- Legal disputes: any dispute is settled only in the Visakhapatnam court.
Application Submission Notes
There is no online form for this drive, so you simply walk in with your filled bio-data (the format is at the end of the advertisement and on dredge-india.com/career) and your certificates. Interviews for both groups start at 10:00 AM, and document checks happen at the venue first.
- Fleet personnel: report at any one of four venues: Dredge House, H.B. Colony, Seethammadhara, Visakhapatnam 530022; DCIL, KOPT Quarters B3 and B5, Nimakmahal Road, Kolkata 700043; Indian Maritime University, East Coast Road, Semmencherry, Chennai 600119; or DCIL, Chackalackal Building, KP Vallon Road, Kadavanthara, Kochi 682020.
- Trainees (TME, TELO and NCV(T)): report only at Dredge House, Visakhapatnam.
- DCI floating staff: internal floating staff who have not signed off can attend by online video call with their Master's recommendation, and must email their CV and documents to recruitfs@dcil.co.in by 3 November 2026, 3:00 PM.
- Help desk: email recruitfs@dcil.co.in or call 0891-2871235 / 2871245.
DCI warns about fake job offers and agents asking for money. The company says it never collects money beyond an advertised fee, so report doubtful calls or emails to recruitfs@dcil.co.in.
