CURAJ is a Category-I University (as ranked by UGC, New Delhi) with an NIRF Rank of 89. Through Advertisement No. CURAJ/BIOCHEM/DG/ANRF/01 dated 1 July 2026, the Department of Biochemistry is recruiting one Senior Research Fellow or Junior Research Fellow for an ANRF-funded project (Anusandhan National Research Foundation, a statutory board under the Department of Science and Technology). The project — "Unravelling the role of endoplasmic reticulum membrane protein in drought-induced unfolded protein response for developing stress-resilient chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.)" — is led by Dr. Dipak Gayen, Assistant Professor and Principal Investigator, and will run till 13 March 2027 or completion of the project. This research looks at how plants cope with drought stress at the cellular level, work that could eventually help develop more resilient chickpea varieties for Indian farmers dealing with erratic rainfall. The Department is located at the university campus in Bandarsindri, Kishangarh (Ajmer district), Rajasthan. Preference is given to SRF-eligible candidates, so freshers with the correct NET/GATE clearance should also apply for the JRF option.

Who Can Apply?

This position is open to life science graduates who meet the qualification and testing requirements listed below. Read the details carefully before applying, since the same post can be filled as either SRF or JRF depending on who qualifies.

• Qualification: You need an M.Sc. in Biochemistry, Botany, or any branch of life science with at least 55% marks or an equivalent CGPA and a good academic record from a UGC-recognised university or institute.
• For SRF: You must also have 2 years of research experience in addition to the above qualification.
• For JRF: You must have cleared UGC/CSIR-NET, GATE, or another national-level exam conducted by agencies like DBT, DST, ICAR, ICMR, DAE, MHRD, DRDO, IIT, or IISER.
• Desirable: Candidates with knowledge and hands-on experience in biochemistry, plant molecular biology, and plant tissue culture will be preferred.
• Note: Preference will be given to candidates eligible for the SRF position over JRF.

Salary

• If you are selected as SRF, you will get a consolidated fellowship of Rs. 42,000 per month plus 10% HRA, as per government norms.
• If you are selected as JRF (offered only if a suitable SRF candidate is not found), you will get Rs. 37,000 per month plus 10% HRA.
• Hostel accommodation at the university campus may also be provided, subject to availability.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

There is no written exam for this position. Selection is based on merit and a personal interview:

1. Shortlisting: Applications are screened and candidates are shortlisted for interview based on merit. The Department may apply additional screening criteria if it receives a large number of applications, and the possession of minimum qualifications alone does not guarantee an interview call.
2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by the Department of Biochemistry, CURAJ. You will be informed only by email or phone — no separate call letter will be sent. Carry your original certificates and documents to the interview.

No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview. Being shortlisted for interview does not guarantee selection, and the committee reserves the right to offer a lower post or not select any candidate if none are found suitable.
