Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) is hiring 13 Safety Assistants on a contract basis at its Kochi shipyard. If you have passed SSLC (Class 10) and hold a one-year Diploma in Safety/Fire along with one year of safety experience, you can apply online. Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) is a listed Miniratna Schedule 'A' company of the Government of India, under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, and one of the country's leading shipbuilding and ship-repair yards. CSL has released a notification to fill 13 Safety Assistant posts on contract for its shipbuilding and ship-repair operations. Because shipyard work is hazardous, safety staff play a key role in protecting workers and equipment. There is no written exam — selection is through a practical test and a physical test. The contract runs for a maximum of 5 years, subject to project needs and your performance, and the rank list from this drive stays valid for 18 months to fill future vacancies too.

There are 13 Safety Assistant posts, split category-wise as below:

• UR (Unreserved): 7 posts
• OBC: 2 posts
• ST: 2 posts
• SC: 1 post
• EWS: 1 post

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You must have passed SSLC (Class 10) and hold a one-year Diploma in Safety/Fire from a Government-recognised institute or Public Sector Undertaking.
• Experience: You need at least one year of training or experience in safety in a PSU, factory, construction company, or engineering company. Any training with pay also counts as experience.
• PwBD candidates should not apply, as shipyard work is hazardous. Only Indian nationals can apply.
• People currently working as Safety Assistants on CSL rolls cannot apply.

Age Limit

• Upper age limit: 45 years as on 22 July 2026 (you should be born on or after 23 July 1981).
• Age Relaxation: OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) — 3 years; SC/ST — 5 years; Ex-servicemen — as per Government rules, up to a maximum age of 50 years.

Salary

• Monthly consolidated pay: Rs. 23,300 per month during the first year of the contract.
• An annual increase applies in the following years.
• You also get extra pay for work beyond normal hours.

Application Fee

• General / OBC / EWS: Rs. 200 (non-refundable, plus bank charges)
• SC / ST: No fee (fully exempted)

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is based on a practical test and a physical test, both held at CSL, Kochi:

1. Certificate Verification: Shortlisted candidates show their original certificates for age, qualification, experience, and category.
2. Practical Test — 70 marks: Tests your safety knowledge and skills.
3. Physical Test — 30 marks: Includes running and push-ups.
4. Medical Examination: Selected candidates must pass a medical fitness check.

Minimum pass marks in each test: UR/EWS — 50%, OBC — 45%, SC/ST — 40%. The final rank list is based on total marks (out of 100). If two candidates score the same, the older candidate ranks higher.

2. Read the vacancy notification and user manual first.
3. Complete the One Time Registration on the SAP online portal.
4. Fill in the online application and upload your certificates and a recent passport-size photo.
5. Pay the fee online (if applicable) and submit before the last date.
6. Save a soft copy/printout with your registration number. Do not send any hard copy by post.

Please note: You may be posted at CSL Kochi, any other CSL unit, or a project site, and you can be transferred anywhere in India or abroad as per work needs. You may also have to serve on board ships or at any CSL work site.

• Assist during emergencies, fires, and accidents
• Keep records of safety checks, incidents, and equipment inspections
• Support Safety Officers in day-to-day safety management
