CSIR-NIO Mumbai Regional Centre is hiring a Project Associate-I on a purely temporary basis. CSIR-National Institute of Oceanography (CSIR-NIO), Regional Centre Mumbai has announced a Project Associate-I vacancy under Vacancy Number SSP3428/3181-26. The position involves marine field surveys, benthic biology sample collection, and laboratory analysis on board research vessels and fishing boats. Who Can Apply?
- Qualification: M.Sc. in Marine Biology, Zoology, Marine Science (with specialisation in Biology), or Oceanography (with specialisation in Biology).
- Desired Experience: Experience in sampling macrobenthos, identification, and data analysis. Knowledge of taxonomic identification of macrobenthic species is preferred.
- You should be willing to participate in marine fieldwork on research vessels and fishing boats.
Salary

Responsibilities
- Participate in marine field surveys on board research vessels and fishing boats
- Collect macrobenthic samples and seawater/sediment samples from the marine region
- Process samples in the laboratory and identify macrobenthic organisms to the lowest taxonomic level possible
- Maintain and manage the project database with accurate sample and species records
- Carry out chemical and biological analysis of water and sediment samples
- Prepare technical reports and contribute to research manuscripts
- Support the project leader with related project tasks as assigned
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum Qualification
M.Sc. in Marine Biology, Zoology, Marine Science (Biology specialisation), or Oceanography (Biology specialisation)
Preferred Qualification
Experience in macrobenthos sampling, identification, taxonomic knowledge of macrobenthic species, and data analysis
Required Skills
Marine biology fieldwork on research vessels, macrobenthic sample collection, taxonomic identification, laboratory water and sediment analysis, report preparation
