CSIR-NGRI is hiring 6 Project Assistants and Project Associates across multiple geophysical research projects at its Hyderabad campus. If you have a B.Sc, M.Sc, M.Tech, or MBA in a relevant field, you can attend the walk-in interview between 17 and 21 August 2026. Salary ranges from Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 35,000 per month plus HRA, depending on the post and qualification.

CSIR-National Geophysical Research Institute (CSIR-NGRI), Hyderabad has released Notification No. PP-08/2026 for 6 Project Assistant and Project Associate positions across six different geophysical research projects, including studies on Earth's structure, planetary seismology, geothermal exploration in Sri Lanka, GNSS-based seismic hazard assessment in the Himalayas, and hydrological modelling. These are project-based, time-bound positions that run co-terminus with the respective projects and are not regular appointments. No written exam is required — selection is through walk-in interviews held on different dates between 17 and 21 August 2026.

Who Can Apply?

Project Assistant-II (PA-II) - Rs. 20,000/month:

• B.Sc with Computer Science. Computer knowledge in MS Office and Excel is desirable.

Project Associate-I (PAT-I) - Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 31,000/month:

• Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA) in Finance — for the finance and administration position.
• M.Sc / M.Sc(Tech) / M.Tech / M.S. / Integrated M.Tech in Geophysics, Applied Geophysics, Marine Geophysics, Exploration Geophysics, Geophysical Technology, Geosciences, or Earth Sciences — for the planetary data analysis and geothermal exploration positions.
• M.Sc / M.Tech in Geology, Applied Geology, or Chemistry — for the rock and soil sample analysis position.

Project Associate-II (PAT-II) - Rs. 28,000 to Rs. 35,000/month:

• M.Sc / M.Tech / M.S. in Geophysics, Geology, or Earth Sciences, with experience in GNSS data acquisition and analysis — for the seismic hazard assessment position.
• M.Sc / M.Tech / M.S. in Earth Science, Water Resources, Geophysics, Hydrology, Hydrogeology, Geoinformatics, Remote Sensing, or GIS — for the hydrological modelling position.

Note: Candidates who have qualified CSIR-UGC/ICAR/ICMR NET (including lectureship/assistant professorship), GATE, or an equivalent national-level exam by DBT/DST or similar central government agencies get the higher pay of Rs. 31,000 (PAT-I) or Rs. 35,000 (PAT-II).

Age Limit

• The upper age limit for all posts is 35 years, as on the date of interview.
• Age Relaxation: Up to 5 years for SC/ST/PwBD/Women candidates, and up to 3 years for OBC candidates.

Salary

• Project Assistant-II (PA-II): Rs. 20,000/month + HRA
• Project Associate-I (PAT-I): Rs. 25,000/month (Rs. 31,000/month with NET/GATE) + HRA
• Project Associate-II (PAT-II): Rs. 28,000/month (Rs. 35,000/month with NET/GATE) + HRA

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is through a single stage:

1. Walk-in Interview: Held between 17 and 21 August 2026 at CSIR-NGRI, Uppal Road, Hyderabad. Reporting time is 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM — no candidate is allowed entry after 10:00 AM. Bring your filled application form, original certificates, and one set of self-attested photocopies.

If you cannot attend the walk-in interview, you can fill the Google Form on the CSIR-NGRI website and upload your application with all certificates to appear for an online interview, but you must do this by 13 August 2026.

2. Attend the walk-in interview at CSIR-NGRI, Uppal Road, Hyderabad on your position's scheduled date (17, 19, or 21 August 2026), between 8:30 AM and 10:00 AM.
3. Carry your filled application form, original certificates, Curriculum Vitae (CV), and Aadhaar, along with one set of self-attested photocopies.
4. If you cannot attend in person, fill the Google Form on the CSIR-NGRI website and upload your documents online before 13 August 2026 to be considered for an online interview.

Note: Final year/semester students awaiting results are not eligible to attend. No TA/DA will be paid for the walk-in interview.

• Support day-to-day data collection, processing, and analysis for the assigned geophysical research project
• Assist senior scientists with fieldwork, including GNSS, seismological, gravity, or hydrological data acquisition
• Maintain project records, documentation, and administrative or financial support as required by your role
• Use programming and software tools (Python, MATLAB, GIS, or Google Earth Engine) for data modelling and interpretation
• Prepare technical reports and contribute to project deliverables
• Coordinate with the project team and report progress to the Principal Investigator
