CSIR-NEIST Apprentice Recruitment 2026

The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research - North East Institute of Science and Technology (CSIR-NEIST), Jorhat, Assam has invited applications for 29 Apprentice posts under Advertisement No. 20/2025-26-HRD. This is a one-year apprenticeship under the Apprenticeship Act, 1961.

This is a great opportunity for fresh engineering graduates and diploma holders who want to gain hands-on work experience at a premier research institute. Note that this apprenticeship does not give you a permanent government job.

Available Posts and Vacancies

Graduate Apprentice — 18 Posts

Qualification: BE/BTech in relevant engineering branch

• Chemical Engineering: 8 posts
• Mechanical Engineering: 5 posts
• Computer Science / IT: 5 posts

Stipend: Rs. 12,300 per month

Technician Apprentice — 11 Posts

Qualification: Diploma in relevant engineering branch

• Mechanical Engineering: 5 posts
• IT / Computer Science: 2 posts
• Electronics / Telecommunication: 2 posts
• Electrical Engineering: 2 posts

Stipend: Rs. 10,900 per month

Who Can Apply

Age Limit (as on 12 March 2026)

• Graduate Apprentice: 21 to 27 years
• Technician Apprentice: 18 to 25 years

Age relaxation is available for SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD candidates as per government rules.

Qualification

• Your course must be from a regular mode (full-time). Distance or correspondence courses are not eligible.
• You must be a fresher. Candidates who already have 1 or more years of work experience are not eligible.
• Candidates who are currently doing any other apprenticeship are also not eligible.

NATS Registration

• You must be registered on the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) portal.
• Your NATS registration must be valid with a 16-digit NATS ID.
• Your NATS registration validity must be up to 31 December 2027 or later.

Selection Process

There is no written exam and no application fee for this recruitment.

Salary / Stipend

• Graduate Apprentice: Rs. 12,300 per month
• Technician Apprentice: Rs. 10,900 per month

Work Location

CSIR-NEIST, Jorhat, Assam. The institute also has branches at Imphal and Itanagar.
