CSIR-NEERI Project Scientist-I, Project Associate-I & Project Assistant-II Recruitment 2026 - 9 Posts

CSIR-National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (CSIR-NEERI), Nagpur, has released 6 advertisement notifications for engagement of R&D project staff across multiple ongoing projects. These include work on Jarofix waste management in road construction, ISO accreditation maintenance (OLP-49), sophisticated environmental analytical services (OLP-48), and early warning systems for lake ecosystems (OLP-83). Selection is through interview only — no written exam. All positions are temporary and co-terminus with the respective projects at CSIR-NEERI, Nagpur.

Note: The Project Associate-I (OLP-83) post is through Walk-in Interview on 12 May 2026 at CSIR-NEERI, Nagpur. All other posts are through online interview.

Who Can Apply?

Project Scientist-I (PS-I) — CNP-2828

• Qualification: Doctoral Degree (Ph.D.) in Chemistry OR M.E./M.Tech/Integrated Masters in Chemical Engineering/Chemical Technology from a recognized university
• Experience: You need 4 years of R&D experience in Industrial or Academic Institutions, or Science & Technology organizations
• Work area: Process Development, Scale-up, Modelling & Simulation of Chemical/Electrochemical Reactors

Project Associate-I (PAT-I) — OLP-49

• Post 1 (Chemistry): M.Sc. in Chemistry from a recognized university. Work: Lab maintenance and documentation as per ISO 17029:2017
• Post 2 (Chemical Engg): B.E./B.Tech in Chemical Engineering/Chemical Technology from a recognized university. Work: GHG Emissions Monitoring, LCA, ISO 19029:2019 accreditation activities

Project Associate-I (PAT-I) — OLP-48

• Qualification: M.Sc. in Chemistry / Environmental Science / Hydrochemistry / Botany from a recognized university
• Preferred experience: Handling instruments such as Ion Chromatograph, ICP-OES, ICP-MS, GC-MS; field work for water and soil sample collection across different states

Project Associate-I (PAT-I) — OLP-83 (Walk-in Interview)

• Qualification: B.E./B.Tech in Electronics Engineering or Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering OR M.Sc. in Electronics/Instrumentation from a recognized university
• Skills required: Electronic circuit design, embedded systems, sensors, calibrations, PCB designing, prototyping. Must be ready to work on project site.

Project Assistant-II (PA-II) — OLP-49 & OLP-48

• Qualification: B.Sc. with Chemistry (or Environmental Science for OLP-49) as one of the subjects from a recognized university
• Work: ISO records and document upkeep (OLP-49); field sample collection, water/soil analysis, handling UPLC/GC-MS/IC instruments (OLP-48)

Result-awaited and final semester candidates are not eligible. You must have a declared result with at least a provisional certificate.

Age Limit

• Maximum age for all posts: 35 years as on the last date of receipt of applications (6 May 2026)
• Age relaxation may apply as per CSIR/Government norms for eligible categories

Salary

• Project Scientist-I: Rs. 56,000/- per month + HRA. You get a 5% increment for every 2 years of experience in the same project.
• Project Associate-I (NET/GATE qualified): Rs. 31,000/- per month + HRA
• Project Associate-I (others): Rs. 25,000/- per month + HRA
• Project Assistant-II: Rs. 20,000/- per month + HRA. You get a 15% increment after 3 years of experience in the same project.
• HRA (House Rent Allowance) is admissible as per applicable CSIR rules. You must arrange your own accommodation.

For Project Associate-I, the higher salary of Rs. 31,000/- applies if you have qualified CSIR-UGC / ICAR / ICMR NET (including lectureship/assistant professorship) or GATE, or equivalent national-level examinations conducted by Central Government departments or their agencies.

• All categories: No fee — CSIR-NEERI does not charge any application fee for these posts.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

All posts are filled through interview only — there is no written exam:

1. Online Interview (most posts): Conducted via MS Teams / Skype or a similar platform. Shortlisted candidates will be notified through the recruitment portal. The interview date will be announced separately on www.neeri.res.in.
2. Walk-in Interview (OLP-83 — Electronics post only): 12 May 2026 at CSIR-NEERI, Nehru Marg, Near Ajni Square, Nagpur. Reporting time: 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM (gate closes at 11:00 AM). Bring all originals and photocopies of certificates along with a filled application form.

If many candidates apply, a Screening Committee will shortlist based on qualifications and profile before calling for interview.

3. Reach CSIR-NEERI, Nehru Marg, Nagpur by 11:00 AM on 12 May 2026.
4. Bring originals and one set of photocopies of 10th, 12th, graduation, postgraduate marksheets and degrees, Aadhaar card, and passport-size photo.

• Carry out R&D activities as assigned under the respective funded project at CSIR-NEERI
• Collect environmental samples (water, soil) from field sites across different states as required by the project
• Analyse samples using laboratory instruments such as ICP-OES, ICP-MS, GC-MS, Ion Chromatograph, and UPLC
• Maintain laboratory records, documentation, and accreditation files as per ISO 17025/17029 standards
• Monitor GHG emissions, conduct LCA calculations, and prepare technical reports for project leaders
• Assist senior scientists with process development, modelling, and simulation of chemical/electrochemical reactors (PS-I)
• Design and develop embedded systems, sensors, and PCB prototypes for environmental monitoring (PAT-I Electronics)
• Maintain confidentiality of project findings and sign the required undertakings as per CSIR-NEERI guidelines
