About This Job

Apply for 1 Project Associate-I post in CSIR-NCL Pune. Master's in Chemistry or Materials eligible. Salary: Rs 25,000 + HRA. Last date: 31 Oct 2026.

CSIR-NCL Project Associate-I Recruitment 2026: Overview

CSIR-National Chemical Laboratory (CSIR-NCL), Pune wants a Project Associate-I for its Physical and Materials Chemistry (PMC) Division. The job sits inside a CSIR-funded project called C-SEAS, short for Solar Panels, Electrical/Electronic Appliances and Air Conditioner Wastes to Sustainable Materials. In simple words, the team is trying to turn old solar panels, electronic scrap and discarded air conditioners into useful new materials.

Your main work will be the synthesis and characterization of materials. Postgraduates in Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Metallurgy or Material Science fit the bill, and the notice says it will give extra weight to academic or R&D experience in materials science or metallurgy. The project is led by Dr. Nayaka G P, and the whole selection happens online, so you do not need to travel to Pune for the interview.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Project-linked tenure: The engagement lasts only as long as the sponsored project runs, and it continues only if your performance and conduct stay satisfactory.
  • Not a CSIR post: This is a purely temporary project engagement. It is not a CSIR or NCL appointment and gives you no right or claim to any regular CSIR-NCL post or fellowship later.
  • Screening may cut the list: Meeting the minimum qualification does not guarantee an interview call. If many people apply, a Screening Committee may shortlist only those with qualifications and experience above the minimum, so list every degree and every bit of relevant experience in your form.
  • Online interview: Shortlisted candidates face the Selection Committee over Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Cisco WebEx or a similar platform. The link comes by email, and no separate call letter is sent.
  • No travel allowance: No TA/DA is paid for appearing in the interview.
  • Immediate joining: If you are selected, you must join duty as soon as you receive the offer.

Application Submission Notes

Applications are accepted only online through the CSIR-NCL project jobs portal at jobs.ncl.res.in. You need a working email ID before you start, because the interview link and updates come by email.

  • Photo and signature: Keep them scanned in JPG/JPEG format, with the photo under 50 kb and the signature under 25 kb.
  • Certificates: Keep readable scans of your mark sheets (SSC, HSC, graduation, master's and PhD if any) and one PDF file of all testimonials ready.
  • Guidelines: Read the How to Apply guide posted on the portal before filling the form.
  • Shortlist and queries: The interview shortlist goes up on the website and the divisional notice board. For questions, you can write to Dr. Nayaka G P at gp.nayaka.ncl@csir.res.in or call 020-25903049.

Responsibilities

  • Synthesize new materials from solar panel, electronic and air conditioner waste streams under the C-SEAS project
  • Characterize the synthesized materials using the lab's analytical instruments
  • Record experiment details and characterization results in the project lab records
  • Share results with the project leader and help prepare project progress reports
  • Follow the PMC Division's lab safety and chemical handling rules
