CSIR-IIIM Project Associate Recruitment 2026: Overview

CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (CSIR-IIIM), Jammu is hiring project staff under Project Advertisement No. 41/2026. The institute is a lab of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), which works under the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Ministry of Science and Technology. The openings sit inside the CCRUM-funded project GAP-3204, a study on nanocomposites made with the help of a traditional formulation to fight antibiotic resistance in the ESKAPE group of bacteria, the hospital germs that are hardest to treat.

This is a temporary, project-linked engagement, not a regular CSIR post. If you have a life-science master's degree and hands-on lab experience in cell culture, animal studies or bacterial genomics, this drive is worth a look.

Posts and Disciplines

• Project Associate-I (Post Code 01): meant for M.Sc. or M.Pharm graduates in Pharmacology, Biotechnology, Zoology or another life-science branch. The project prefers someone who can already run cell culture, ELISA and western blot work and conduct in-vivo experiments on lab animals on their own, including sample collection and data analysis.
• Senior Project Associate (Post Code 02): meant for M.Sc. Biotechnology holders who already have research and development experience in a Central Government research institution or a central autonomous body. The project prefers a background in infectious diseases and bacterial clinical isolates, with skills in PCR, real-time PCR, AST and MIC testing as per CLSI guidelines, efflux experiments and bioinformatics.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: You are engaged for one year or the project duration, whichever ends first. It can be extended or cut short based on project needs and your performance.
• Six-year cap: Your total project tenure across all CSIR labs can never go beyond six years.
• No permanent claim: The posts are on behalf of the sponsor, so selection gives you no right to absorption in CSIR-IIIM or CSIR.
• Performance review: Your work is reviewed from time to time, and poor performance can end the engagement without notice.
• Current IIIM project staff: If you already work on a CSIR-IIIM project, you must get a No Objection Certificate (NOC) before applying; without it your application is not considered.
• Number of posts: The count may change depending on project needs at the time of the interview, and the Director may choose not to fill any post.
• Language: You can speak in English or Hindi before the selection committee.
• Canvassing: Any form of canvassing leads to disqualification.
• Cut-off for eligibility: You must hold the essential qualification on the last date of applying, and age is counted on that same date.

Each post has its own Google Form: use the Post Code 01 form for Project Associate-I and the Post Code 02 form for Senior Project Associate. Forms received after 5:00 PM on the closing day are rejected outright.

The interview is held online on MS Teams, so you do not need to travel to Jammu for it. If many people apply, the screening committee may tighten the shortlisting criteria.
