CMFRI Field Assistant Recruitment 2026: Overview

The Vizhinjam Regional Centre of ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI) in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, is hiring Field Assistants for a consultancy project titled "Assessment of Marine Fisheries Resources and Fish Landings in the Potential Impact Zones of Vizhinjam International Seaport, Kerala, India". The project studies fish resources and landings in the areas the new seaport may affect, which is why the notice prefers people with fisheries field survey experience and a working knowledge of marine fish taxonomy.

This is a contract engagement tied to the project, not a regular ICAR job. Selection is by interview at the Vizhinjam centre, after a screening of the emailed applications if many people apply. Fisheries and zoology graduates who want hands-on coastal field work are the natural fit.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Contract tenure: The post is purely contractual for a maximum of one year and ends with the project. You cannot claim a regular appointment at CMFRI later.
• Shortlisting: If there are many applicants, CMFRI screens them on qualifications and experience. Only candidates who receive an email from CMFRI should come for the interview.
• Post count may vary: The number of posts can change depending on other project needs.
• Reservation claims: To claim reservation or age relaxation, send a caste or claim certificate from the Tahsildar issued within the last 6 months, and bring the original to the interview. Without the original, no reservation is given.
• Relatives at ICAR or CMFRI: Declare any near or distant relative working there in Annexure-II before the application deadline. If you declare it only on interview day, you will not be interviewed.
• CGPA holders: Bring an approved conversion table or formula to the interview, or your candidature is not considered.
• Current employees: Bring a No Objection Certificate from your present employer.
• No travel allowance: No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview.

Application Submission Notes

There is no online form. Email your bio-data in the prescribed format (Annexure-I), scanned copies of all original certificates from matriculation onwards and the signed Annexure-II declaration to cmfrivizhinjam@gmail.com, all combined into a single PDF file.
