District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Chatra Para Legal Volunteer Recruitment 2026 - 20 Posts

The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Chatra, Jharkhand has released Advertisement No. 01/2026 to select 20 local volunteers as Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs). PLVs work at the panchayat level to help weaker sections and needy people get access to free legal aid and legal awareness. No fee is charged for this application, and selection is purely through an interview — there is no written exam.

As a PLV, you will act as a bridge between your community and the legal system — helping people who cannot afford lawyers to access free legal aid, mediation, and government welfare schemes. This role is ideal if you already do social work in your area and want a structured way to formalize it, with a fixed honorarium for your time.

Who Can Apply?

  • Qualification: You must have passed Matriculation (10th) or a higher qualification.
  • Age: You should be at least 18 years old.
  • Aptitude: You should be able to understand and explain legal and social issues to people in simple language.
  • Attitude: You should be a local resident willing to work for the weaker sections of society and needy people without expecting regular income.

Age Limit

  • You should be at least 18 years old to apply for this post.

Salary

  • You will get an honorarium of Rs. 750 per working day, for a maximum of 8 days a month — up to about Rs. 6,000 per month.
  • You can be asked to work up to 2 days a week, as decided by JHALSA/DLSA Chatra from time to time.
  • No other salary, remuneration or wages will be given for PLV work apart from this honorarium.

  • You must attach a self-addressed envelope with a Rs. 55 postal stamp along with your application.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

DLSA Chatra will select Para Legal Volunteers through:

  1. Document Verification: Your application and supporting documents will be checked for completeness and eligibility.
  2. Interview: Selection is based on an interview. Keep checking the DLSA Chatra website or call the helpline for the interview date.

Your selection as a PLV is initially valid for one year, and can be extended based on your work performance.

  2. Fill in all columns of the form completely — incomplete forms will not be accepted.
  3. Attach your educational certificates, residential certificate, caste certificate, birth date proof, and 2 extra passport-size photos.

  5. Write "Application for Para Legal Volunteer" clearly on the envelope.
  6. Send your application by speed post, registered post, courier, or hand delivery to the Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Civil Court, Chatra, Jharkhand, Pin - 825401.
  7. Make sure it reaches the office on or before 12 August 2026, 4:30 PM.

Responsibilities

  • Spread legal awareness among people in your assigned panchayat area

  • Assist in organizing legal literacy camps and awareness programs
