CCI DG Office Multi-Post Recruitment 2026: Overview
The Competition Commission of India (CCI), the regulator that enforces India's competition law under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, is staffing the Office of the Director General (DG). This is the CCI wing that investigates cartels, abuse of dominance and other anti-competitive conduct. The circular covers senior investigation posts, namely Additional, Joint and Deputy Director General, plus Corporate Services posts that keep the office running. Every post is filled on deputation on foreign service terms, so only serving employees of government and public bodies can apply.
The DG Office sits in CCI's headquarters at Kidwai Nagar (East), New Delhi. If you have handled investigation or enforcement under laws like Income Tax, Customs or other economic regulations, this is a chance to move into competition-law work for a fixed term. A separate CCI circular issued the same day covers posts in the Commission itself, not the DG Office.
Posts and Disciplines
- Additional Director General: the senior-most investigation post in this circular, for Group A officers who already work on investigation or enforcement of an economic or regulatory law.
- Joint Director General: a senior investigation post for Group A officers with investigation experience under economic laws such as Income Tax or Customs.
- Deputy Director General: the biggest group in this circular. It is open to a wider pool, including state government, UT and PSU officers, who have investigated cases or gathered intelligence under an economic law.
- Deputy Director General (Corporate Services): leads administration and establishment work; you need a bachelor's degree and a background in personnel management, secretarial practice or administration.
- Assistant Director General (Corporate Services): administration posts for graduate officers from establishment, personnel or secretarial streams.
- Office Manager (Corporate Services): office-level administration posts for staff from the same streams.
Desirable for the investigation posts: a bachelor's degree in law, economics, commerce or business administration (finance and accounts), or a CA, CS or Cost Accountant qualification, along with experience in competition law.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Tenure: deputation on foreign service terms for three years, subject to satisfactory performance.
- Rules that apply: DoPT's deputation instructions (OM No. 6/8/2009-Estt.(Pay II) of 17.06.2010) and the DG Office service conditions in GSR 338(E) of 15.05.2009, both as amended.
- Medical: CGHS is not available to officers of the DG Office; you get medical reimbursement under CCI's service rules instead.
- Housing: the DG Office is eligible for General Pool government accommodation.
- Clean forwarding only: conditional forwarding by your employer, or an application without the required documents and employer certificate, is rejected outright.
- Immediate release: apply only if your department can relieve you straight away on selection.
- Interaction: if the Selection Committee calls you for an interaction, no TA/DA is paid.
- No canvassing: canvassing in any form disqualifies you. CCI may also choose not to fill some or all of the posts, and the post count can change without notice.
