The High Court of Bombay has released a notification to prepare a selection list for 2 Mali/Helper posts vacant in the establishment of its Original Side (Mool Shakha), Mumbai. The Original Side of the Bombay High Court handles the court's administrative establishment in Mumbai, and this recruitment will fill vacancies for gardening and general helper duties on its premises. This is a Group D (Class IV) isolated post with no future promotion avenue, so keep that in mind before you apply. The post suits candidates from Maharashtra with basic education and hands-on gardening or nursery-maintenance experience who can read, write, and speak Marathi. Since eligibility is decided as on the date the advertisement is published, make sure you meet all the criteria before you send your application.

Who Can Apply?

  • Qualification: You must have passed at least the 4th standard.
  • Language: You must be able to read, write and speak Marathi.
  • Experience: You need at least 3 years of experience maintaining a garden, nursery, plants, and trees in good condition.
  • Nationality: You must be an Indian citizen.
  • You should have good character and conduct, with no pending departmental or criminal case against you.
  • You must not have been dismissed or removed from a previous government or judicial job, and you should not have been convicted in a criminal case or have a pending criminal case against you.
  • If you are a serving court or government employee, there should be no pending departmental inquiry against you, and you must apply through proper channel.
  • If you or your spouse has more than one living spouse, you are not eligible for this post.
  • As per the Maharashtra Civil Services (Declaration of Small Family) Rules, 2005, you should not have more than 2 children born on or after 28 March 2006.

Age Limit

  • Open category: 18 to 38 years
  • Backward class category: 18 to 43 years
  • Serving court/government employees: minimum 18 years, no upper limit

Salary

  • Selected candidates will get a salary under Pay Level S-3: Rs. 16,600 to Rs. 52,400 per month.
  • You will also get dearness allowance and other allowances as per rules, currently at 4% DA.
  • Since this is a permanent Group D government post, you will also be covered under standard government service benefits once confirmed.

Selection Process

The selection will be done in 3 stages, for a total of 50 marks:

  1. Preliminary/Written Test: 30 marks on garden and nursery maintenance knowledge (you need at least 15 marks to qualify)
  2. Physical Fitness Test: 10 marks
  3. Personal Interview: 10 marks

Candidates who fail the preliminary test are disqualified from the rest of the process. You must attend the physical test and interview at your own expense.

The court will publish the exact schedule for all these stages from time to time on the official website of the Bombay High Court, so keep checking for updates once you have applied. The final selection list and waiting list will be prepared based on your combined score across all three stages, out of the total 50 marks. The Administrative Officer, High Court, Original Side, Mumbai, will keep the appointment and shortlisting rights with itself.

  • Report any damage to plants or garden infrastructure to seniors
  • Support housekeeping and general upkeep tasks around the court building as directed
