Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute (BMCRI), Bengaluru, is one of Karnataka's major government medical institutions, and its network includes well-known hospitals such as Victoria Hospital, Vani Vilas Hospital, Minto Hospital, the Trauma Care Centre and the Super Specialty Hospital. BMCRI has released a notification for recruitment of 75 Staff Nurse / Nursing Officer posts on a contractual basis, as per Government of Karnataka orders (DPAR 02 SBC 2026, dated 13.05.2026). The appointment is for an initial period of 11 months and may be extended based on performance and conduct, though it does not entitle the candidate to regularization. This is a good opportunity for both B.Sc Nursing graduates and GNM diploma holders with hospital experience to work at a leading government medical college and its associated hospitals.
Who Can Apply?
For B.Sc / Post Basic B.Sc Nursing Holders:
- Passed B.Sc (Nursing) or Post Basic B.Sc (Nursing) from a university recognized by law in India, and registered with the Karnataka State Nursing Council.
For GNM Diploma Holders:
- Passed Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) from an institute recognized by law in India, registered with the Karnataka State Nursing Council, with 2 years of experience in a 100-bed hospital.
- Desirable: Computer and typing knowledge.
Candidates who are currently working in government sector or government autonomous medical colleges must produce a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the head of their present institute or competent authority.
Age Limit
- General Merit candidates should be up to 40 years old.
- Age Relaxation: OBC (Category 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B) candidates can apply up to 43 years; SC/ST candidates can apply up to 45 years.
Selection Process
The selection will be done in the following stages:
- Document Verification: Original documents, caste/income certificates and other relevant documents will be verified before the interview. Dates will be announced on the college website.
- Interview
- Merit-Based Selection: Final selection is based on merit and the essential eligibility criteria. The selection committee has the final authority to select candidates and may alter the number of vacancies.
Note: No TA/DA will be paid to candidates for attending document verification or interview.

Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care to patients in the assigned ward
- Administer medicines and treatments as prescribed by doctors
- Maintain accurate patient records and nursing charts
- Assist doctors during rounds, procedures and emergencies
- Monitor patient vital signs and report changes promptly
- Follow hospital infection control and safety protocols
- Work in rotational shifts including night duty
- Guide and supervise nursing assistants and support staff
