Bihar Judicial Academy (BJA), Patna has released an advertisement inviting applications for 4 Senior Faculty Member posts and 2 Assistant Research Scholar posts, both on a contractual basis. The notice was circulated through Begusarai District Court and other district courts across Bihar for wider publicity, since BJA trains judicial officers and court staff across the state. Both posts are based at the Academy's Gaighat campus in Patna, where new judicial officers undergo induction training and sitting judges attend refresher courses. Senior Faculty Member posts are open only to retired Judicial Officers from the Superior Judicial Service, while the Research Scholar posts are open to Ph.D./LL.M. holders with teaching or research experience in law. Both roles carry a 3-year contract that can be extended based on your performance.

Who Can Apply?

For Senior Faculty Member (Pay: Rs. 51,550 - 63,070/month):

• You must be a retired Judicial Officer from the Superior Judicial Service with teaching experience.
• You should have at least 3 years remaining before turning 70 years old as on the last date of application, and be medically fit.
• Experience at a Judicial Training Academy and research publications are desirable, though not mandatory.

For Assistant Research Scholar (Pay: Rs. 27,700 - 44,700/month):

• You need a Ph.D. in Law with NET/JRF, or an LL.M. with a consistently good academic record.
• You must have a minimum of 2 years of teaching or research experience in a recognized institution.
• You should have at least 3 years remaining before turning 60 years old as on the last date of application, and be medically fit.

Age Limit

• For Senior Faculty Member: you must have at least 3 years remaining before attaining 70 years of age as on the last date of application.
• For Assistant Research Scholar: you must have at least 3 years remaining before attaining 60 years of age as on the last date of application.

Salary

• Senior Faculty Member: Rs. 51,550 to Rs. 63,070 per month (equivalent to Rs. 1,44,840 - 1,94,660) plus DA as per rules.
• Assistant Research Scholar: Rs. 27,700 to Rs. 44,700 per month (equivalent to Rs. 77,840 - 1,36,520) plus DA as per rules.
• No other allowances or accommodation will be provided for either post.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Both posts are filled through document screening followed by an interview:

1. Senior Faculty Member: Shortlisting based on evaluation of 10 submitted judgments and other credentials, followed by an interaction/interview.
2. Assistant Research Scholar: Shortlisting based on evaluation of research papers/publications and credentials, followed by an interaction/interview.

Only shortlisted candidates will be called for interview. There is no written exam for either post. "Credentials" here means your teaching/research record, service history and academic contributions relevant to the post.

Good to Know

• No TA/DA is admissible for either post — you will need to bear your own travel cost if called for interview.
• Incomplete or late applications will be rejected, and the Academy will not entertain any correspondence about it.
• The Academy reserves the right to reject any application without assigning a reason.

2. Fill in the form completely in block letters and attach self-attested documents (qualification, age, experience, caste/EBC certificate, etc.).
3. Attach your research papers/publications (for Research Scholar) or 10 submitted judgments (for Senior Faculty Member).
4. Send the completed application by post/courier, or submit it physically, to The Director, Bihar Judicial Academy, Gaighat, Patna - 800007.
5. Superscribe the envelope with "Application for Senior Faculty Member" or "Application for Assistant Research Scholar" as applicable.
