Banaras Hindu University (BHU), one of India's largest central universities located in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, has released a notification for 1 Research Associate (RA) post under the CSIR Emeritus Scientist Scheme in the Department of Chemistry, Institute of Science. The role is attached to a time-bound project titled "Design and development of value-added scaffolds employing dithioesters/thioamides via classical and photochemical/electrochemical approaches", running from 2026 to 2029 under the guidance of Prof. M. S. Singh (CSIR-Emeritus Scientist). This is a purely contractual, project-based position — ideal for PhD holders or experienced ME/MTech candidates looking to build a strong research profile in synthetic organic chemistry before moving into permanent academic or scientist roles. The position is co-terminus with the project and does not guarantee any further extension or absorption.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: Doctorate (PhD/MD/MS/MDS) or an equivalent degree, as per CSIR Guidelines for Research Scheme/Sponsored Schemes.
• Alternate Route: If you don't have a PhD, you can still apply with 3 years of research, teaching, or design/development experience after completing MVSc/MPharm/ME/MTech.
• Job Profile: You will work on synthesis and characterization of value-added scaffolds using dithioesters/thioamides through classical, photochemical, and electrochemical routes.
• Preferred: Candidates with prior research experience in the project area (organic synthesis of dithioesters/thioamide-based scaffolds) or a related field will be preferred.

Age Limit

• The upper age limit for the Research Associate post is 35 years.
• Age Relaxation: SC/ST/OBC candidates, women, and persons with disabilities get a relaxation of up to 5 years.

Salary

• The consolidated fellowship is paid in 3 slabs based on your qualification and experience: Rs. 58,000 per month, Rs. 61,000 per month, or Rs. 67,000 per month.
• No TA/DA is paid, including for the interview.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

There is no written exam for this post. Selection is based on:

1. Screening of Applications: Your qualifications, research record, and experience will be checked against the CSIR guidelines.
2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for a personal interview. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
