BEL Advisor Sonar Recruitment 2026: Overview

Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), under the Ministry of Defence, is hiring an Advisor for its Product Development and Innovation Centre (PDIC) in Bengaluru. The assignment supports sonar development, with particular emphasis on high-frequency systems. You would join on a fixed-term advisory engagement and report to the Director responsible for research and development.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Initial engagement: The assignment begins with a one-year term. BEL may extend it year by year based on business needs and your performance, subject to the notice’s overall tenure and age ceilings. An extension is not automatic.
• Overall tenure: Extensions can take the engagement to a maximum of eight years, subject to the separate age ceiling in the notice. The engagement ends when its approved term is complete.
• Hybrid working: You can work from the unit, office, project site or your residence. At least eight working days each month must be spent at the unit, office or site, so the arrangement still involves regular in-person work.
• Ending the engagement: Either side must give one month’s notice or pay the equivalent amount instead if the engagement ends early.
• Previous commitments: An existing confidentiality-cum-non-compete agreement with a former employer can prevent you from taking this role. Check this condition before applying.
• Clearance: You must have left your previous organisation without a pending vigilance or disciplinary issue.
• Information in your form: BEL uses your declared details for shortlisting. Incorrect claims can lead to disqualification at a later point.

• Define sonar system requirements, configurations and functions.
• Guide transducer, electronics, signal-processing and display subsystem development.
• Review hardware, software, packaging and thermal designs.
• Finalize signal-processing algorithms and module designs.
• Evaluate subsystems for acceptance and system integration.
• Guide environmental testing, user evaluation and acceptance procedures.
• Review lake, harbour and sea trial results and resolve underwater cable integration issues.
• Prepare design and interface documentation and review future sonar technology needs.
