Bharathidasan University (BDU), Tiruchirappalli is hiring 1 Project Assistant in the Department of Physics under a Chief Minister's Research Grant (CMRG) project on laser safety shields. Bharathidasan University (BDU), Tiruchirappalli has released a notification for 1 Project Assistant position in the Department of Physics. The position is under the CMRG-sponsored research project titled "Development of Indigenous Broadband Smart Laser Safety Shields Suitable for Defence and Health-Care Sectors". The post is co-terminus with the project for a maximum tenure of 3 years. Freshers with M.Sc Physics who want to pursue Ph.D research in lasers and nanophotonics are encouraged to apply — even candidates waiting to defend their end-semester project can apply.

Who Can Apply?

  • Essential Qualification: You must have an M.Sc in Physics with a minimum of 55% marks or 5.79 CGPA. For SC/ST candidates, the cut-off is relaxed to 50% or 5.26 CGPA.
  • Desired: Previous experience in solar cells research is preferred.
  • Desired: Sound knowledge in lasers and nanophotonics.
  • Special Note: Candidates who are still waiting to defend their end-semester project can also apply.

Age Limit

  • Upper age limit: 28 years
  • Age Relaxation: 5 years of relaxation for SC/ST candidates (i.e. up to 33 years).

Salary

  • You will get a consolidated fellowship of Rs. 25,000 per month.
  • The tenure is for a maximum of 3 years and is co-terminus with the scheme.
  • The appointed person will have no claim of appointment or absorption in the Funding Agency.

Selection Process

The selection will be done in 2 stages:

  1. Shortlisting: Applications are screened based on academic qualifications and research aptitude.
  2. Interview: Only shortlisted candidates will be called for an in-person interview at the Department of Physics, Bharathidasan University. No TA/DA will be admissible for appearing in the interview.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out research on the development of indigenous broadband smart laser safety shields
  • Conduct laboratory experiments related to lasers and nanophotonics under the supervision of the Principal Investigator
  • Synthesise and characterise materials suitable for laser safety applications in defence and healthcare sectors
  • Maintain detailed records of experimental data, observations, and analysis
  • Assist in preparing research publications, presentations, and project progress reports
  • Support PhD-level research activities and contribute to the project outcomes
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment safely as per protocols
