Bihar Animal Sciences University (BASU) Associate Professor and Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026 - 95 Posts

Bihar Animal Sciences University (BASU), Patna, established under the Bihar Animal Science University Act-2016, has released Employment Notice No. 05/2026 inviting applications for 43 Associate Professor and 52 Assistant Professor posts in the Veterinary Faculty. Posts are available at Bihar Veterinary College, Patna and the College of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, Kishanganj. There is no maximum age limit for the Associate Professor post, making this a great opportunity for experienced veterinary academics and researchers. In-service candidates can also apply through the proper channel, and the retirement age at BASU is 65 years.

• Associate Professor (Academic Level-13A): 43 posts
• Assistant Professor (Academic Level-10): 52 posts

• 2 Associate Professor and 2 Assistant Professor posts are reserved for Deaf/hearing-impaired and Locomotor Disability Divyang candidates (Bihar domicile only)
• 1 Associate Professor and 1 Assistant Professor post is reserved for grandchildren of freedom fighters
• 35% of posts in each category are reserved for women candidates who are original residents of Bihar
• The University follows the reservation policy of the Government of Bihar, and reservation benefits apply only to candidates who are original residents of Bihar

Who Can Apply?

For Associate Professor (Rs. 1,31,400 - 2,17,100/month):

• Doctoral degree in the relevant subject, including relevant basic sciences
• 8 years' experience as Assistant Professor-cum-Junior Scientist, Scientist, Lecturer, Extension Specialist, or an equivalent position, with a contribution to research, teaching or extension education
• OR a Doctoral degree with at least 8 years of high-quality post-doctoral research and 6 publications in NAAS-rated journals (rating 7.5 or above)

For Assistant Professor (Rs. 57,700 - 1,82,400/month):

• Master's degree with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST candidates) in the relevant subject from a recognized Indian or foreign university
• NET qualification is compulsory along with one NAAS-rated publication, unless you hold a PhD with UGC-2009 course work and at least two publications with NAAS rating 4 or above, completed on or before your last date of application
• A PhD is preferred, but PhD without UGC course work does not qualify for the NET exemption

• A basic degree in Veterinary Science at undergraduate level is essential as per VCI regulation 2016
• You must fill the score card and mention the page number of your supporting documents, or your application will be treated as incomplete and rejected
• Only the first pages of your publications showing the title, authors, date and journal name need to be attached — you do not need to send the full research paper

Age Limit

• Associate Professor: No maximum age limit.
• Assistant Professor: Up to 37 years (Unreserved Male), 40 years (Unreserved Female, BC/EBC Male and Female), and 42 years (SC/ST Male and Female).
• Age Relaxation: Bihar government employees applying for a higher pay scale get 5 extra years, and Divyang candidates of all categories get 10 extra years.

Salary

• Associate Professor: Rs. 1,31,400 to Rs. 2,17,100 per month (Academic Level-13A, PB-37400-67000 + AGP-9000).
• Assistant Professor: Rs. 57,700 to Rs. 1,82,400 per month (Academic Level-10, PB-15600-39100 + AGP-6000).

Application Fee

• UR / BC / EBC: Rs. 1,000
• SC / ST / Divyang (Bihar domicile): Rs. 250
• Payment Mode: Non-refundable Bank Draft in favour of "Finance Comptroller, Bihar Animal Sciences University, Patna", payable at Patna.
• You need a separate application form and fee for each post and each college you apply to.

Selection Process

The selection will be done in 2 stages:

1. Screening on Score Card: Your academic record and career score are evaluated as per the prescribed score card proforma, and you must mention the exact page number of every supporting document in your form.
2. Personal Interview: You need at least 50% marks in the interview to be considered in the merit list. This is relaxed to 32% for SC/ST, Divyang and female candidates, as per the directive of the Dairy, Fisheries and Animal Resource Department, Government of Bihar.

3. Attach self-attested copies of your certificates, mark sheets and the first pages of your publications.
4. Attach the application fee bank draft in favour of "Finance Comptroller, Bihar Animal Sciences University, Patna".
5. Sign and serially number every page of your form and enclosures.
6. In-service candidates should also send an advance copy of the application with the requisite fee, along with an NOC, through the proper channel — this copy must reach BASU within 10 days of the last date.
7. Send the complete application by Speed Post or Registered Post to "The Registrar, Bihar Animal Sciences University, P.O: Bihar Veterinary College, Patna – 800014" by 31 July 2026.
