The Medical Division of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), under the Government of India, is filling 2 Medical Officer (Ophthalmology) posts at BARC Hospital, Anushaktinagar, Mumbai on locum basis against regular and leave vacancies. This is a walk-in interview — no online application is required. The total period of appointment is 178 days, with a maximum spell of 89 days at one time.

Salary

• Gross emoluments: approximately Rs. 1,20,000 per month
• This is calculated as Rs. 45,098 (basic, pre-revised) plus DA admissible to a Scientific Officer/D (Medical Officer)
• Locum posting — paid against the period of actual engagement

Selection Process

Selection is by walk-in interview only — there is no written exam:

1. Walk-in Interview: Attend the interview at the venue on 19 May 2026.
2. Shortlisting (if needed): If more than 10 candidates turn up, shortlisting will be done on the basis of the highest percentage scored in MS/MD/DNB.
3. Document Verification: All original certificates plus one set of self-attested copies must be produced.

The decision of the selection committee is final and binding.

• Examine and treat patients in the Ophthalmology OPD at BARC Hospital, Mumbai
• Diagnose eye conditions including refractive errors, cataract, glaucoma, and retinal disorders
• Perform routine ophthalmology procedures and minor eye surgeries as required
• Prescribe medication and refer complex cases for specialised care
• Maintain accurate patient records and case files
• Cover regular or leave vacancies in the ophthalmology department on locum basis
• Coordinate with other medical officers and hospital staff for patient care
• Follow BARC Hospital protocols and Department of Atomic Energy medical guidelines
