Who Can Apply?

For Deputy Controller of Examinations:

• Qualification: Postgraduate degree in Arts/Science/Commerce (or equivalent) with at least 60% marks from a UGC-recognised university
• Experience: At least 7 years of experience as a Post Graduate Teacher in a Higher/Senior Secondary School, OR as an Assistant Professor in a College/University, OR as Principal/Vice Principal in a Government/Provincialized Higher/Senior Secondary School (with at least 2 of those years in an administration-related post involved in the conduct of examinations)
• Bonus: Candidates with experience as Assistant Controller/Controller of Examinations in a University get an extra weightage of 5 points during selection

For Deputy Secretary (Administration):

• Qualification: Postgraduate degree in Arts/Science/Commerce (60% marks) from a UGC-recognised university, OR an MBA/equivalent (preferably Operations or HR specialisation) with 80% marks
• Experience: At least 7 years as a Post Graduate Teacher, OR as Assistant Professor in a College/University, OR as Principal/Vice Principal in a college with a minimum enrolment of 100 in each class, OR 7 years of administration/HR management experience in a Government or private-sector organisation with a turnover of Rs. 5 crores or more

Domicile Note: You must be a registered candidate with a District Employment Office in Assam, and you must hold the required qualification on the date you submit your application.

Age Limit

• You should be between 30 and 44 years old as on 01 January 2026.
• Age Relaxation: SC/STP/STH candidates get 5 years relaxation (up to 49 years). OBC/MOBC candidates get 3 years relaxation (up to 47 years).
• Your age will be calculated based on your Matriculation/HSLC Admit Card or Certificate only - no other document will be accepted for age proof.

Salary

• Selected candidates will get a salary in the scale of Rs. 30,000 to Rs. 1,10,000 per month plus Grade Pay of Rs. 14,500.
• You will also get other allowances as admissible under the rules of the Board.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is done through a points-based shortlisting system followed by an interview:

1. Shortlisting for Interview: Points (1 to 5) are awarded based on your marks in 10th, 12th, Graduation, and Post Graduation - 60-70% marks gets 1 point, 71-80% gets 2 points, 81-90% gets 3 points, and 91-100% gets 5 points.
2. Experience Points: Up to 5 extra points are awarded for relevant work experience in Government or Government-undertaking educational institutions - counted till the last date of the online application.
3. Shortlisting: Only the top 10 candidates per post are shortlisted for document verification and interview.
4. Document Verification: Your testimonials will be checked against your online application; any discrepancy leads to summary rejection.
5. Personal Interview: Carries a maximum of 30 points, added to your overall selection score.
6. Final Merit List: Your overall score (education + experience + interview points) decides your rank, and appointments are offered as per the merit list.
