AP Universities Faculty Recruitment 2026 - 1523 Posts

The Higher Education Department, Government of Andhra Pradesh has released a major faculty recruitment notification for the academic year 2026-27. A total of 1244 new posts and 279 backlog vacancies have been announced across 19 participating universities. There is no written exam for Associate Professor and Professor posts — selection is based on academic merit and interview. APPSC will conduct a screening test only for Assistant Professor roles. This is the largest faculty recruitment drive in AP state universities in recent years.

Who Can Apply?

For Professor Posts:

• PhD in the concerned subject with a strong publication record
• Minimum 10 years of teaching/research experience at university or college level
• Must meet UGC and APSCHE norms for the post

For Associate Professor Posts:

• Postgraduate degree with PhD and good academic record
• Minimum 8 years of teaching/research experience
• Required research publications in peer-reviewed journals

For Assistant Professor Posts:

• Master's degree with 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/PwBD) in the concerned subject
• Must have qualified NET/SLET/SET or hold PhD as per UGC norms

For Lecturer Posts:

• Master's degree with 55% marks (50% for reserved categories) plus NET/SLET/SET

For Assistant Librarian Posts:

• Master's in Library and Information Science with 55% marks (50% for reserved categories) plus NET

Domicile: Andhra Pradesh state rules apply for reservation. Detailed subject-wise and university-wise eligibility is given in the respective notifications on the recruitment portal.

Age Limit

• Minimum age: 18 years
• Maximum age: 44 years for General category (as on 1 July 2026)
• SC / ST / BC / EWS: Up to 49 years (5 years relaxation)
• Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD): Up to 54 years (10 years relaxation)

Salary

• Professor: Academic Pay Level 14 — Rs. 1,44,200 - Rs. 2,18,200 per month
• Associate Professor: Academic Pay Level 13A — Rs. 1,31,400 - Rs. 2,17,100 per month
• Assistant Professor: Academic Pay Level 10 — Rs. 57,700 - Rs. 1,82,400 per month
• Lecturer / Assistant Librarian: Academic Pay Level 10 — starting Rs. 57,700 per month
• Plus DA, HRA, TA and other allowances as per Andhra Pradesh State Government rules

Selection Process

The selection process varies by post:

1. For Assistant Professor and Lecturer Posts: APPSC will conduct a screening test (written exam). Shortlisted candidates will go through document verification and interview.
2. For Associate Professor and Professor Posts: No written exam. Selection is based on academic merit, research credentials, publications and interview.
3. Document Verification: All shortlisted candidates must produce original certificates and proof of NET/SLET/PhD.
4. Interview: Conducted by the respective university selection committees as per UGC and APSCHE norms.

6. Upload scanned certificates, NET/SLET/PhD proof, publications list and photograph.
7. Pay the application fee online and submit before 8 June 2026.
8. Take a printout of the submitted application for your records.
