About This Job
Apply for 5 Project Scientist and Technical Support posts in AIIMS Nagpur. MBBS/graduate eligible. Salary: Rs 33,600-96,000. Last date: 30 Sep 2026.
AIIMS Nagpur Project Research Scientist and Technical Support Recruitment 2026: Overview
All India Institute of Medical Sciences Nagpur (AIIMS Nagpur) is hiring Project Research Scientists and Project Technical Support staff for a community health study called IMPACT-NCD. The full title is "Implementation study on Multisectoral Promotion for Physical Activity and Community Nutrition towards Transformation for Non-Communicable Diseases prevention". It is funded by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and led by Dr. Sujiv Akkilagunta as Principal Investigator, under reference AIIMS/NGP/CFM/Rec/IMPACT/26/01.
The study looks at how physical activity and better community nutrition can help prevent diseases like diabetes and high blood pressure. That means the work happens in the field, not only at the hospital — you will travel to rural and urban areas across Nagpur district. Doctors, dentists and veterinarians with an interest in public health research, and social-work or life-science graduates with community research experience, should take a close look.
Posts and Disciplines
- Project Research Scientist II (Medical): the senior scientist role for MBBS/BVSc/BDS holders who also have post-qualification experience, a PG degree such as MD, MDS, MVSc or MPH, or a PhD. At least one year in community-based health research is preferred.
- Project Research Scientist I (Medical): an entry-level scientist role open to MBBS/BVSc/BDS graduates. Community research experience or an MPH degree gives you an edge.
- Project Technical Support III: the field-team role for graduates in medical social work, community development, social welfare, community health or life sciences with community research experience, or a relevant PG degree such as MSW or MPH.
Post-wise Duties
Project Research Scientist II and I (Medical)
You will support the scientific side of the implementation study — working with the Principal Investigator on epidemiological and qualitative research, applying what you know about non-communicable diseases and India's health care delivery system, and checking how the prevention activities work in the community. The senior (II) post brings more research experience to the team.
Project Technical Support III
You will be the link between the project and the community. Expect regular travel to villages and city areas of Nagpur district to run field activities, collect data from households and support the physical activity and nutrition programmes the study is testing.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Project tenure: This is a fixed-term job under an ICMR-funded project, not a regular post of ICMR or AIIMS Nagpur. The first appointment is for six months and may be renewed up to the end of the project based on your performance.
- No permanent claim: Working on this project does not give you any claim to permanent employment at ICMR or AIIMS Nagpur, and the job ends automatically when the project ends.
- Notice period: You must give 30 days' notice if you resign. If your performance is poor, the project can end your contract with one week's notice.
- Languages: You must speak English, Marathi and Hindi fluently.
- Field travel: Posting is in Nagpur, Maharashtra, and you must be willing to travel across rural and urban areas of the district.
- Consolidated pay: Apart from the stated monthly pay with HRA and travel claims, no other allowances are paid.
- Current ICMR/DHR project staff: Submit a No-Objection Certificate from your Principal Investigator.
- Interview: No TA/DA is paid for attending, and online interviews are not allowed because a written test is also expected.
Application Submission Notes
Applications are accepted only through Google Forms — one form for the Project Research Scientist (Medical) posts and a separate form for Project Technical Support III; both links are on the AIIMS Nagpur recruitment page. Fill the Annexure CV format, sign it, scan it and upload it in the form. A general CV will not be accepted. For queries, write to impactncdnagpur@gmail.com.
