SAIL IISCO Burnpur Trade Apprentice Recruitment 2026: Overview

Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), IISCO Steel Plant (ISP), Burnpur is enrolling 200 Trade Apprentices for one year of apprenticeship training under the Apprenticeship Act, 1961. The plant is in Burnpur, West Bengal. Applications are taken only through the NAPS portal from 28 September 2026 to 7 October 2026. This is a training engagement, not a job: the notice says plainly that it creates no right to regular employment in SAIL-ISP. If you hold an ITI certificate in one of the listed trades and have not done an apprenticeship elsewhere, this is for you.

• Electrician: 30 seats.
• Fitter: 30 seats.
• Turner: 10 seats.
• Machinist: 20 seats.
• Welder: 70 seats, the largest intake.
• Ref & AC: 10 seats.
• Mechanic-Motor Vehicle: 10 seats.
• Computer & ICTSM: 10 seats.
• Draughtsman: 10 seats.

The seat numbers are tentative. SAIL-ISP will also keep a waiting list of 10% of the total seats in order of merit; waiting-list candidates are called only if selected candidates do not join.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Who cannot apply: if a contract ID has already been created for you under the Apprenticeship Act, 1961 during apprenticeship training in any other organisation, you are not eligible.
• Age: you must be at least 18 years old on 28 September 2026. The notice states no upper age limit.
• Reservation: seats in each trade are reserved in line with the state government guidelines for educational institutions: SC 22%, ST 6%, OBC 17%, EWS 10% and PwD 3%. You need a valid, updated category certificate. PwD candidates should be able to carry out routine basic functions independently.
• Selection: on the basis of your ITI marks within your trade and category. If two applicants have the same aggregate marks, the older one is preferred. The notice mentions no written test or interview.
• Stipend: Rs 9,600 to Rs 10,560 a month (lump sum). You arrange your own accommodation.
• Medical: the company provides facilities under the Workmen Compensation Act provisions referred to in the Apprenticeship Act.
• Duration: one year from the date the apprenticeship contract is created; the contract ends automatically when the training period is over.
• No claim to a job: shortlisted candidates must give a notarised undertaking that they will not demand employment on the strength of this training.
• Verification: your candidature is provisional. False or suppressed information cancels it at any stage.

Log in, open Apprenticeship Opportunities, use Find Establishment and select SAIL-IISCO STEEL PLANT, Burnpur (E03171900012). Apply in the trade in which you passed ITI, against the vacancies shown on the portal.
