All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Kalyani, West Bengal has released a notification for 25 Junior Resident (Non-Academic) posts in different departments. AIIMS Kalyani is an Institute of National Importance set up under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY). Selection is through a Written Exam and/or Walk-in Interview held on 15 July 2026, and the engagement is purely on a tenure basis for 6 months. This is a good chance for fresh MBBS doctors who want hospital residency experience at a central government institute. The posts are spread across various clinical departments and give you direct, hands-on exposure to patient care, emergency duty and ward management at a fast-growing AIIMS. Since this is a Junior Residency under the Government of India Residency Scheme, it is a strong stepping stone before postgraduate studies or a longer hospital career.

• Unreserved (UR): 10 posts
• OBC: 3 posts
• SC: 5 posts
• ST: 5 posts
• EWS: 2 posts

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You must have an MBBS from an institution recognised by the National Medical Commission (NMC). You must have completed your compulsory internship and hold registration with any State Medical Council.
• Recency rule: You should have passed MBBS (including internship) not earlier than 3 years before the start of the residency, i.e. not before 8 July 2023.
• Internship deadline: If your internship completes on or before 7 July 2026, you are eligible to apply and appear, but you must bring the original Internship Completion Certificate on exam/interview day.
• Term limit: Candidates who have already done 2 terms of Junior Residency (Non-Academic) anywhere will not be considered. Each term of JR is 6 months.
• Foreign medical graduates must hold the FMGE certificate.

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 33 years as on the date of publishing this notification on the Institute website.
• Age Relaxation: PwD (OPH) candidates get 10 years relaxation. Other categories get relaxation as per DoPT rules.
• No age relaxation is allowed to SC/ST/OBC candidates applying against unreserved (UR) vacancies.

Salary

• Pay Scale: Rs. 15,600 - 39,100 + Grade Pay Rs. 5,400 (6th CPC), which is Pay Level 10 of the 7th Pay Commission Pay Matrix.
• You also get Non-Practising Allowance (NPA) for medical graduates.
• Plus DA, HRA and other allowances as per Central Government rules.

Application Fee

• Unreserved / OBC / EWS: Rs. 1,000
• SC / ST: No fee
• Payment is made through a Demand Draft in favour of "AIIMS KALYANI INTERNAL RESOURCES ACCOUNT" payable at Kalyani.
• The fee once paid will not be refunded. Applications without the prescribed fee will be rejected.

Selection Process

Selection is based on the following:

1. Document Verification: Held on 15 July 2026 from 9:00 AM. Bring all original documents and self-attested copies.
2. Written Exam (if applicable): A 20-mark written exam will be held only if the ratio of posts to candidates is 1:10 or more.
3. Walk-in Interview: Held on 15 July 2026 from 10:00 AM onward. Candidates reporting after 10:00 AM will not be allowed.

Selection is based only on performance in the Written Exam and/or Interview.

How to Apply

1. Register online through the link on the official AIIMS Kalyani website aiimskalyani.edu.in before the last date.
2. Upload your MBBS mark sheets, degree certificate, internship completion certificate, medical registration, photo, Aadhaar and category certificate (if any).
3. On 15 July 2026, report at AIIMS Kalyani by 9:00 AM with the Demand Draft for the fee and the filled application form.
4. Bring all original documents and one set of self-attested photocopies for verification.
5. Appear for the Written Exam and/or Interview after document verification.

For each term, you must submit a separate application. Govt/PSU employees must produce a No Objection Certificate.

Important Conditions to Know

• The appointment is purely on a tenure basis for an initial period of 6 months and does not give any right to a regular or permanent post.
• The tenure automatically ends after 6 months. You can leave earlier by giving one month's notice or pay in lieu of notice.
• If selected, you must join within 30 days of the Offer of Appointment - no extension is given.
• Private practice of any kind is not allowed, and you may be posted on rotation, including in Trauma and Emergency Medicine.
• No travelling or other allowance is paid for joining the post.

• Handle patient care duties in the assigned department under senior doctors
• Work in rotating shifts, including night duty and emergency postings
• Assist consultants during ward rounds, procedures and emergencies
• Keep accurate records of patient history, treatment and progress
• Monitor admitted patients and report changes in their condition
• Follow hospital rules, safety norms and clinical protocols
• Support the Trauma and Emergency Medicine team when posted there
