Who Can Apply?

For Project Research Scientist-1 (Non-Medical):

• Qualification: Post-Graduate Degree, including integrated PG degrees, in Life Sciences.
• Desirable: Hands-on experience in bacterial culture and molecular biology techniques such as nucleic acid isolation and PCR.
• This is the senior of the two posts and will take a lead role in running the lab-based diagnostic experiments for the project.

For Project Technical Support-II:

• Qualification: 10th pass + Diploma (MLT/DMLT/ITI or equivalent) with 2 years' experience in a relevant subject, OR a 3-year Graduate degree in a relevant subject with 1 year's experience.
• Desirable: Hands-on experience in media preparation and reagent/molecular reagent preparation.

Age Limit

• Project Research Scientist-1: You should be below 35 years old as on the last date of application.
• Project Technical Support-II: You should be below 30 years old as on the last date of application.
• Age Relaxation: SC/ST/OBC candidates and departmental (including project) candidates get age relaxation as per Central Government/ICMR rules.

Salary

• Project Research Scientist-1 (Non-Medical): Consolidated pay of Rs. 67,200 per month (Rs. 56,000 basic + 20% HRA of Rs. 11,200).
• Project Technical Support-II: Consolidated pay of Rs. 24,000 per month (Rs. 20,000 basic + 20% HRA of Rs. 4,000).
• The engagement runs till 14 January 2027, subject to annual extension by ICMR, and there is no separate pay scale beyond this consolidated monthly amount.

Selection Process

Selection is mainly through an interview, with a written test added when there are many applicants:

1. Written Test (conditional): If more than 30 eligible candidates apply for a post, a written test of 20 MCQs for 20 marks is held on the day of the interview.
2. Interview: Conducted in person by the selection committee — there is no online interview option, so you must be physically present at the venue.
3. Document Verification: Bring original documents, plus a No-Objection Certificate if you are currently in government service.

Qualifying marks in the written test are 35% for SC/ST and 40% for UR/OBC/EWS candidates. The top 5 candidates per post in the written test move to interview, and your final merit combines written test and interview marks. If fewer than 30 eligible candidates apply, merit is based on interview marks alone. No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview, and shortlisted candidates will be informed individually by email about the exact date and time. There is no provision for an online interview under this recruitment — you must be present in person at the venue on the scheduled date.
