About This Job
Apply for 1 JRF or Project Associate-I post at ABV-IIITM Gwalior. Engineering/technology graduates eligible. Last date: 4 Sep 2026. Apply by email.
ABV-IIITM Gwalior is filling 1 Junior Research Fellow (JRF) or Project Associate-I position in a DST-sponsored automated-vehicles project. The institute will first consider applicants for JRF and will consider Project Associate-I only if no suitable JRF is found. Depending on the level, you need a relevant B.Tech/B.E. or M.Tech/M.S./M.E. qualification, with GATE or CSIR-UGC NET mandatory for JRF. The fellowship follows DST norms, and your email application must reach the project investigator by 04 September 2026.
ABV-IIITM JRF or Project Associate Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post
Atal Bihari Vajpayee Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management (ABV-IIITM), Gwalior has issued Ref. ABVIIITMG/2026/890 dated 12 August 2026 for this project appointment. The DST-NSF project studies how automated and human-driven vehicles behave at intersections and uses meta-learning to encourage cooperative behaviour. The work is collaborative, with the University of Wisconsin-Madison, IIT Jammu and IIIT Allahabad, so the selected researcher will need to communicate actively with several project partners.
The notice describes the expected project-linked period as about 1.5 years and separately states that the position can continue for a maximum of 3 years. Actual continuation depends on the project period, satisfactory performance and receipt of funds from the sponsoring agency. A selected researcher may also seek admission to the Ph.D. programme under institute rules; the appointment itself does not guarantee admission.
Who Can Apply?
The qualification depends on whether you are considered for the JRF level or Project Associate-I level. Read both routes carefully because the same recruitment has only one position and JRF consideration comes first.
Junior Research Fellow (JRF)
- Postgraduate qualification: M.Tech, M.S., M.E. or equivalent in CSE, IT, EC, EE or ME.
- Previous degree: You must also hold B.Tech, B.E., M.Sc. or equivalent in CSE, IT, EC, EE or ME.
- Qualifying examination: GATE or CSIR-UGC NET, including Lectureship/Assistant Professorship, in the relevant area is mandatory for JRF consideration.
Project Associate-I
- Essential qualification: B.Tech, B.E. or equivalent in CSE, IT, EC, EE or ME.
- Preferred examination: GATE or CSIR-UGC NET in the relevant area is preferred.
- Without GATE/NET: You may still be considered for Project Associate-I, but monthly pay will follow the applicable DST norm for that qualification status.
Desirable Technical Background
- Machine learning: Basic understanding of learning algorithms and model development.
- Deep learning: Familiarity with neural-network methods relevant to intelligent systems.
- Computer vision or robotics: Exposure to perception, autonomous systems or robotic applications will help with the project.
The research deals with automated vehicles, human-driven vehicles and intersection behaviour. You should be comfortable discussing technical models, sharing progress with partner institutions and connecting computer-based results with project tests.
Fellowship
- Fellowship amount: As per Department of Science and Technology (DST) norms.
- Project Associate-I without GATE/NET: Monthly pay will follow the DST norm applicable to applicants without the qualifying examination.
- Funding condition: Fellowship payment depends on receipt of funds from the sponsoring agency.
- TA/DA for interview: No TA/DA will be provided for attending the interview.
The official notice does not state a fixed rupee amount, so applicants should rely on the DST rate applicable to the selected level and qualification. Do not assume that the JRF and Project Associate-I rates will be identical.
Selection Process (No Written Exam)
The institute will shortlist applicants from their academic record, qualifying examinations, research work, projects and relevant experience. Only shortlisted applicants will receive the interview schedule by email.
- Application Screening: The project team checks your degrees, percentage/CGPA, GATE or NET status, research work, projects and experience.
- JRF Priority Review: Applicants meeting the full JRF requirements are considered first. Project Associate-I is considered if no suitable JRF is available.
- Interview: The interview may be conducted online or in person at ABV-IIITM Gwalior.
- Certificate Verification: Attached qualification, transcript, examination and category certificates must support every claim in your CV.
An unsatisfactory appointment may be ended with 1 month's notice. The interview date is not fixed in the advertisement, and shortlisted applicants should monitor the email address supplied in their CV.
