ABGH Senior Resident Recruitment 2026: Overview

Acharyashree Bhikshu Government Hospital (ABGH) in Moti Nagar, New Delhi, run by the Government of NCT of Delhi, is filling Senior Resident posts on an ad hoc basis in three departments: Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics and Medicine. The hospital holds these Senior Resident walk-in interviews every Tuesday, and this notice lists the seats open in the current round.

The job comes under the Residency Scheme of the Government of India. It suits doctors with a postgraduate degree or diploma in the speciality, and also senior Junior Residents who have built up enough experience in the department.

Posts and Disciplines

• Gynae (Obstetrics and Gynaecology): ad hoc Senior Resident seat; reserved for an ST candidate in this round.
• Paeds (Paediatrics): ad hoc Senior Resident seats; reserved for OBC candidates in this round.
• Medicine: ad hoc Senior Resident seat; reserved for an ST candidate in this round.

If no SC, ST, OBC or EWS candidate is available, the hospital may give the seat to a General category candidate for 44 days on an ad hoc basis. 3% of seats are reserved for persons with disabilities as per rules.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: The ad hoc term is 89 days, extendable up to a maximum of three years, or until regular or specialist doctors join, whichever is earlier.
• UR candidate on a reserved seat: The term is 44 days, renewable in 44-day spells with a break day, based on good work and conduct, up to three years.
• Three-year cap: Senior Residents serve a maximum of three years including any earlier Senior Residency.
• Certificates: Only OBC and EWS certificates issued by the Government of NCT of Delhi are accepted. OBC candidates need a Non-Creamy Layer certificate, and EWS candidates an EWS certificate, for the current financial year.
• DMC registration: You need valid Delhi Medical Council registration; the DMC acknowledgement slip is accepted at the interview, but the certificate is needed at joining.
• Serving doctors: If you work anywhere on a regular basis, bring an NOC from your present employer.
• Joining: You must join within 7 working days of the offer letter, or the offer is cancelled automatically. No extension is given.
• Merit lists: The list of fresh candidates is used first; the second list is used only after that. The waiting list stays valid until the next interview or six months, whichever is earlier.
• Other notes: No TA/DA is paid for the interview, the number of seats may change without notice, and the service ends automatically when a regular candidate joins.

Bring a filled application form with all columns complete and self-attested copies of your certificates attached; no form is handed out on the interview day. Mark your attendance at Room No. 304, Establishment Branch, 3rd floor, ABG Hospital. The interview itself is held in the Conference Room, ABGH.

The schedule table gives a reporting window of 9:30 to 11:00 AM, while the general conditions mention 9:30 to 10:30 AM, so reach by 10:30 AM to be safe. If too many doctors turn up, the interview may continue on the next working days; the board will announce this verbally at closing time.
