Assam Agricultural University (AAU), Jorhat, has released Advertisement No. 2/2026 inviting online applications for 33 vacancies under its Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) spread across Assam. The posts cover everything from senior research and extension roles (Senior Scientist and Head, Subject Matter Specialist) to farm and lab support roles (Farm Manager, Programme Assistant) and administrative/support staff (Assistant, Stenographer Grade-III, Driver, Supporting Staff). Who Can Apply?

Senior Scientist and Head (Rs. 1,31,400/month, Level 13A):

• Doctoral degree in Agriculture/Animal Science/Fisheries/Community Science/Horticulture/Sericulture, with 8 years' experience (excluding PhD period) as Scientist/Lecturer/Extension Specialist or equivalent.
• Desirable: Specialisation in implementing extension education programmes.

Subject Matter Specialist (T6) (Rs. 56,100/month, Level 10):

• Master's Degree in Agriculture/Animal Science/Fisheries Science from a recognised University.
• Disciplines available: Agronomy, Agricultural Economics, Animal Science, Fishery Science, Plant Protection, Soil Science.

Farm Manager (T4) (Rs. 35,400/month, Level 6):

• Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture/Animal Science/Fishery Science/Horticulture/Sericulture from a recognised University.

Programme Assistant - Lab Technician (T4) (Rs. 35,400/month, Level 6):

• Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture/Animal Science/Fishery Science/Community Science/Horticulture/Sericulture.

Programme Assistant - Computer (T4) (Rs. 35,400/month, Level 6):

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Computer Application/Information Technology or equivalent from a recognised University.

Assistant (Rs. 35,400/month, Level 6):

• Bachelor's Degree in any discipline with 5 years' work experience in Accounts and Establishment.

Stenographer Grade-III (Rs. 25,500/month, Level 4):

• Bachelor's Degree with a minimum 6-month Diploma in Computer Application.
• You will be tested on English shorthand at 80 WPM and computer transcription.

Driver (T1) (Rs. 21,700/month, Level 3):

• HSLC pass or equivalent, with a valid Heavy and Light Vehicle driving licence and 2 years' driving experience.
• Desirable: One-year ITI trade certificate and motor mechanic work experience.

Supporting Staff Grade-I (Rs. 18,000/month, Level 3):

• Matriculation or ITI pass.

Domicile: Only permanent residents of Assam can apply for all posts except Senior Scientist and Head, which is open to eligible Indian citizens from anywhere.

Age Limit

• Senior Scientist and Head: Maximum 47 years
• Subject Matter Specialist / Farm Manager / Programme Assistant: Maximum 38 years
• Assistant / Stenographer Grade-III / Driver / Supporting Staff: Maximum 40 years
• Your age will be calculated as on 01 January 2026.
• Age Relaxation: As per Government of Assam norms for reserved categories. There is no upper age limit for in-service AAU candidates.

• SC / ST / PWD: Rs. 500
• The fee is non-refundable and must be paid online along with your application.

Selection Process

Your selection depends on the post you apply for:

• Stenographer Grade-III: Dictation test in English at 80 WPM for 10 minutes, followed by a computer transcription test in 50 minutes.
• Driver: Practical driving skill test for both heavy and light vehicles, conducted by a University committee.
• All other posts: Screening of applications based on qualifications and experience, followed by further selection steps as decided by the University.
