IARI Young Professional Recruitment 2026: Overview

ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-IARI) is engaging Young Professional-I and Young Professional-II for the Bitter Gourd component of the National Mission on High Yielding Seeds. The work sits in the Division of Vegetable Science at Pusa, New Delhi, where the team studies crop material and supports a national seed mission. This is project work, not a route to a regular ICAR or IARI appointment.

Posts and Disciplines

• Young Professional-II: suited to postgraduates from vegetable science, horticulture, genetics and plant breeding, seed science and technology, biotechnology, or an allied life-science discipline.
• Young Professional-I: designed for graduates from relevant agricultural sciences, engineering, or technology who can support laboratory and crop-data work.

Post-wise Duties

Young Professional-II

You will support bitter-gourd germplasm phenotyping, help screen plant material for biotic-stress tolerance, and contribute to molecular-breeding activities. Your work may also involve organising observations, handling datasets, and helping the research team interpret results through basic statistical analysis.

Young Professional-I

You will assist with laboratory routines and plant growth experiments, record crop growth and yield observations, and keep working datasets ready for the scientific team. The role also supports molecular-breeding tasks and routine analysis, so careful record-keeping and comfort with computer applications will matter in day-to-day work.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Project tenure: the engagement is initially for one year or until the project ends, whichever comes first, with any extension governed by project and funding rules.
• Project linkage: both roles end with the project, and appointment does not create a claim to regular employment, absorption, or continuation in ICAR-IARI.
• Shortlisting: the institute will screen applications and contact shortlisted applicants by email about the interview arrangements.
• Travel costs: ICAR-IARI will not pay TA, DA, or other expenses for attending the interview.
• Work standards: selected professionals must follow laboratory safety, biosafety, data-security, and confidentiality rules; project data and intellectual property remain with ICAR-IARI.
• Relationship declaration: you must disclose any near or distant relative employed by ICAR or IARI in the prescribed declaration.
