ICAR-IARI Senior Research Fellow Recruitment 2026: Overview

ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-IARI) is engaging Senior Research Fellows in its Agricultural Knowledge Management Unit at Pusa, New Delhi. The fellows will support two externally funded digital-agriculture projects: one combines weather and remote-sensing data for early warning of crop pests and diseases, while the other develops and supports the Kisan Sarathi platform for crop sciences. Both roles sit at the intersection of agriculture, data and software, making them a useful fit for computer-science researchers who want applied public-sector project experience.

Posts and Disciplines

• SUFALAM Phase II project: Work with weather, remote-sensing and crop-health data to help develop geospatial forewarning models for pests and diseases. The project is funded by the Space Applications Centre, Ahmedabad.
• Kisan Sarathi 2.0 project: Support the enhancement, operation and maintenance of a digital knowledge platform for crop sciences. This project is funded by ICAR and Digital India Corporation.

Post-wise Duties

Senior Research Fellow — SUFALAM Phase II

You will help organise and analyse weather, remote-sensing and crop-protection datasets, contribute to statistical models, and support the development of practical forewarning outputs. Your work may also involve databases, web-based tools and clear technical documentation for the research team.

Senior Research Fellow — Kisan Sarathi 2.0

You will support the development and operation of the Kisan Sarathi system, work with its databases and web components, and help the team test and improve digital services. Knowledge of artificial-intelligence tools and statistical modelling will be useful across both projects.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Temporary engagement: The appointment is linked to the funded scheme and creates no right to regular employment with ICAR or ICAR-IARI.
• Tenure: The present term runs up to 31 March 2027 and may continue until March 2028. It can end earlier if the scheme is terminated.
• Early termination: ICAR-IARI may end the engagement with one month's notice if project circumstances change.
• Shortlisting: The unit will assess eligibility, academic record and relevant research experience, then contact shortlisted applicants by email.
• Interview travel: No TA or DA will be paid for attending the in-person interview in New Delhi.
• Communication: No separate call letter will be issued, so you should monitor the email address given in your application.
