National Institute of Technology (NIT) Sikkim, an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, has released Advertisement Nos. NITS/Rect/Fac/2026/01, 02 and 03 for 30 regular faculty positions across Civil, Computer Science, Electrical & Electronics, Electronics & Communication, Mechanical Engineering and Mathematics. Selection is merit-based through credit point scoring, written test or presentation, and interview. Candidates with first class throughout and a Ph.D. in the relevant discipline can apply.

Vacancy Breakdown by Post

• Assistant Professor Grade-II (on Contract) / Grade-I: 15 posts (UR: 8, OBC: 4, SC: 1, ST: 1, EWS: 1) — Civil, CSE, EEE, ECE, Mechanical Engineering
• Associate Professor: 10 posts (UR: 4, OBC: 2, SC: 2, ST: 1, EWS: 1) — Civil, CSE, EEE, ECE, Mechanical, Mathematics
• Professor: 5 posts (UR: 4, OBC: 1) — Civil, CSE, EEE, ECE, Mechanical Engineering

The number of vacancies may increase or decrease as per Ministry of Education sanctions. PwD reservation applies as per Government of India norms.

Who Can Apply?

Assistant Professor Grade-II (Pay Level 10) and Grade-I (Pay Level 12)

• For Engineering disciplines: Ph.D. in the relevant discipline with First Class in B.E./B.Tech and M.E./M.Tech. Candidates with Ph.D. directly after B.E./B.Tech (without M.Tech) are also eligible if they have First Class at Bachelor's level.
• For Basic Sciences (Mathematics): Ph.D. in the relevant discipline with First Class in B.Sc. and M.Sc.

Associate Professor (Pay Level 13A2)

• Ph.D. + post-Ph.D. experience as per Schedule E of NIT Statutes
• Required credit points and academic record as per Gazette Notification 24 July 2017

Professor (Pay Level 14A)

• Ph.D. + post-Ph.D. experience as per Schedule E of NIT Statutes
• Higher credit points and academic record as per NIT Statutes

All degrees must be from an Institute/University recognised by UGC/AICTE/AIU/CFTI.

Age Limit

Salary

• Assistant Professor Grade-II: Pay Level 10 in 7th CPC, entry pay Rs. 56,100 per month (AGP Rs. 6,000)
• Assistant Professor Grade-I: Pay Level 12 in 7th CPC, entry pay around Rs. 79,800 per month (AGP Rs. 8,000)
• Associate Professor: Pay Level 13A2 in 7th CPC, entry pay around Rs. 1,39,600 per month (AGP Rs. 9,500)
• Professor: Pay Level 14A in 7th CPC, entry pay around Rs. 1,59,100 per month (AGP Rs. 10,500)
• Plus DA, HRA, TA and other allowances as per Central Government rules

Application Fee

• Women / SC / ST / PwD: Rs. 750
• Payment Mode: Online only through the payment gateway on the Institute website
• Application fee is non-refundable under any circumstances.

Selection Process

Selection will happen in the following stages:

1. Scrutiny and Shortlisting: Applications are screened for eligibility under Schedule E of NIT Statutes and shortlisted based on credit point score and research/academic performance.
2. Written Test / Presentation: Provisionally shortlisted candidates may be called for a screening written exam or presentation. Syllabus follows UG, PG and Ph.D. level courses of CFTIs/AICTE-approved institutes.
3. Presentation and Interview: Final shortlisted candidates appear before the Selection Committee for presentation and personal interview.

It is mandatory to appear in person for the written test, presentation and interview. No TA/DA will be paid.

How to Apply

1. Go to the official NIT Sikkim website at nitsikkim.ac.in and open the Recruitment / Job Opportunities page.
2. Download the prescribed application form (Part A and Part B), credit point sheet and Candidate Summary format.
3. Type the application using a word processor and fill in all required details.
4. Pay the application fee online through the payment gateway link on the Institute website and save the payment receipt.
5. Fill the Candidate Summary form online and download the signed copy.
6. Take a printout, sign every page, and attach all self-attested copies of certificates, mark sheets, experience proofs, category certificates and payment receipt.
7. Send the sealed envelope containing the application and Candidate Summary by post to: The Director, National Institute of Technology Sikkim, Ravangla, District - Namchi, Sikkim, PIN - 737139. Super-scribe the envelope with: "APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF [NAME] IN THE DEPARTMENT OF [NAME]".
8. The application must reach NIT Sikkim on or before 22 May 2026 by 5:00 PM. Submit a separate application form for each post applied.
